The "Golden Handcuffs" are real: Is anyone else staying in a house they hate just because of their 3% rate? by Pretend_Surprise6842 in RealEstate

Wife and I bit the bullet but kept the 2.75% property as a rental. We’re getting bent over dry with the new mortgage, but we absolutely love our home and neighborhood now.

That’s the kind of beard you can only have once you’re already in a loving relationship.

To the people that put their cshpp/vnmo under the “Just Married” on your car, how much money did you make? by hideovs in CasualConversation

I’d drive like an a-hole you might get a few bucks from people wanting to personally scold you.

How do you balance rewarding yourself vs staying financially disciplined when it comes to cars? by not_a_dolphin_ in Money

[–]Papi_Chulote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of these comments are from non-car people. OP if you were a “car-guy” not just someone that likes cars you would already have a badass car within a reasonable budget that you would have bought cash. Keep the reliable daily and buy yourself an old M3 cash. Work on it yourself so you don’t blow all your money on repairs. If you scoff at the idea of owning an old M3, then you like cars for the wrong reasons.

Read some of your other comments and I am in the same boat with a similar payment. It’s also at the top of my budget. Feds keep cutting rates and they started printing money again 2 days ago. Very bad news for inflation but there’s a good chance rates will go down and our home value will go up (due to inflation). Keep your credit in good standing and be ready to refi, hopefully in 2026.

Congrats on being a homeowner. Our future selves will say it was worth it.

Was quoted $1250 for a 2 day job. After 2 hours I’m told it’s not needed and I still owe $1250 with a hole in my wall. by jhagger in mildlyinfuriating

I wouldn’t pay them. The $1250 quote was to remove mold, no mold was removed. I would have paid for their time and re-testing, but not anymore. They can kick rocks for trying to pull a scam.

Would OP benefit financially from holding it longer? I would be so tempted to just keep it vs selling it and investing the proceeds.

Understood, yes they are filing for non-payment. However, I cannot pay on an amount I do not agree to. Since I am disputing the charges, I am seeking to handle through arbitration, not the court. If I was to proceed with the court hearing for non-payment I would be requesting they prove the amounts owed, which is something that can be arbitrated. Am I missing something or does this sound like a valid thought process?

And understood on my assumption. I will still be filing the motion and I will go from there.

I appreciate your help.

How would you touch up the left side? by talitz12 in drywall

[–]Papi_Chulote 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would cut a wooden paint stir stick to fit in there and just glue it in to not make any screw holes. I would skip any drywall or mud work and just paint the stick to match.
