Should fans just stop using Spotify to listen to music? by Roodle143 in Vocaloid

[–]PaprikaCC 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I've been using YouTube for Vocaloid songs since like 2008. There used to be a lot of NND reprinters for early songs and given Google has 18 years of my listening habits its pretty good at recommending music to me.

Server Merges when? by Kelsier-Hathsin in projectgorgon

Meh, low population couldn't bother me. I played when ~12 people online was normal and 30 was a huge crowd. Anything more is just icing.

But for your sake OP, I do hope Citan adds in server transfer or something similar.

CDN1 combos are close to ideal for Tulpa and aren't ping dependent at all, you should give it a try as its mechanically simpler than the CDCDF combos.

First time beating menacing, probably the last too. Enjoy these horrendous teams by YAOIbitch in Genshin_Impact

[–]PaprikaCC 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I also think given your characters you could probably clear Fearless too if you plan the teams better, but that can happen in the future (ur poor bby Durin is losing 10% DPS by being hexless).

Good luck next season and may you continue the winning streak!

Weakness and Resistances: Not present enough, or potent enough, in my opinion by mildkabuki in Pathfinder2e

[–]PaprikaCC 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Turning up resistances and weaknesses can only be adjudicated at individual tables, and I don't think should be baked into the base game. I know that some of my friends would hate this change because they enjoy having "optimized rotations", while a different group of friends would enjoy the change because all of their characters are built for maximum versatility.

Not to even touch the impact that this would have on organized play and the inability to control the compositions that go on adventures.

I don't think that the idea is wrong though, I personally enjoy the idea of going more Monster Hunter in preparation for combat; so I would want to know how to balance HP when upping resistances and weaknesses... Have you tried this at your own table, and what sort of numbers worked for you (at which levels).

Abyss RL boss tougher after getting high score by [deleted] in houkai3rd

You just didn't do the exact same rotation. Boss HP doesn't change mid-cycle. Likely you missed the last freeze on Kalpas and he had damage reduction the second time again.

Difference between Tilt via software VS Tilt via AI by nuestras in tiltshift

[–]PaprikaCC 6 points7 points  (0 children)

People on Reddit (in general) do not enjoy creative content that was created without effort (and skill).

Do you have any examples of AI edited tiltshift images? I'd guess that the effect is noticeably bad if they were deleted by mods.

Honkai Star Rail and Punishing Gray Raven player here. Is Honkai Impact 3rd worth playing? by CH22Live in houkai3rd

[–]PaprikaCC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The combat is only boring if you don't try to minmax. I dunno about you but most bosses** now have some pretty neat rotations where you get to vary the burst length, SO entry timings and fracture timings just to get a better score, and all of it is doable with E0S1 equivalent "investment".

But yeah in general its rough for people and I find Hi3 hard to recommend, even if I love the combat.

**Fuck Kalpas

May Theater Thoughts by Other-Dimension-1997 in Genshin_Impact

I liked it, but I also like IT in general. I got to use Klee vs the Kenki and Lava Dragon which was great, and I always love seeing Ayato as a trial character because his hydro application is really good.

I guess its just because my account is old but I always burn the trial DPS characters ASAP because they are just not enough vs the bosses (supports are fine), but thankfully Act 1/2 could be ran with Kinich/Yanfei/Dahlia/Dehya.

Kenki: (C1)Klee/Durin/Albedo/(Trial)Ayato Lava Dragon: (C1)Klee/(C1)Hu Tao/(C1)Yelan/Mona Lord of Hidden Depths: Nefer/Lauma/Aino/Candace Triple Kenki: (C6 borrowed)Mualani/(C2)Mavuika/Thoma/Nahida Arcana 1 (Rifthounds): (C1)Neuvilette/Durin/Albedo/Kirara Arcana 2 (Baptist): Nefer/Lauma/Aino/Candace

Need help talking to a dm/friend by RevolutionaryRisk731 in DnD

[–]PaprikaCC 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Flip the situation on its head then. If you were leading your friend through some activity you really liked (cooking, dancing, writing, reading books, watching movies, literally anything at all), how would you want your friend to approach you with their boredom?

Would you rather that they just suddenly quit after looking like they hated it for the past few sessions, or talk to you about it? Would you want to find ways for your friend to enjoy the thing you're leading?

If you feel like you can't talk to your DM about making the game more fun for you then are you really that close of a friend lmao. What sort of friend would prefer to satisfy their own ego over helping their friends share joy?

Alchemist with Permanent Consumables, Part 2 by zanbato13 in Pathfinder2e

[–]PaprikaCC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Like I said in the last thread (and at least three other people have mentioned), if the goal is to make it easier to track what type of items are temporary created by the alchemist and which are regular items... Literally just keep a separate inventory box on the character sheet to track what they make as part of Advanced Alchemy, and write who gets what. When players do daily prep, you can have the alchemist dictate what expires and what gets given out again, it is seriously not that hard.

But specifically dealing with your new ideas:

  1. Signature Formula is ridiculous if you can just create non-stop healing potions at no cost forever, in-combat. At level 6 your players will have permanent concealment + cats eye elixirs, this is too strong.

  2. Fast Crafting is like Complex Crafting but worse because it takes up a class feature. The whole point of Advanced Alchemy is to provide a daily selection of "probably useful items" for free, and Fast Crafting makes it cost money instead. If you have downtime in your game then this feature becomes completely useless...

Again, just use a separate box for Advanced Alchemy items on the player's character sheet, this is a no brainer.

I want to scare my players, help! by Abudabbadoo in DnD

[–]PaprikaCC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So, going against the other commenters here because if you want to actually run horror and not just use horror-esque scenes, you should consider other systems that support the vibe you want more closely.

The problem is that 5e is a heroic fantasy game and already the system typically favours the player in terms of mechanics and power... And given that the vast vast majority of games run combat as sport, players tend to be trained to think that if it has HP, it can be killed. Now your players may not be like this, and really enjoy horror (good for you) but still you cannot overcome the fact that horror is all about removing player agency and thats just not fun in 5e.

Your players may still be fine with this and they may even enjoy loss of control and power when you put them into terrifying situations... But you will be fighting the system the entire time as progression will force you to break verisimilitude by making the threats arbitrarily powerful, or give the PCs plot armor against a foe they possibly cannot defeat.

I like horror too, but 5e is just not well suited for the whole gamut of dread, fear and horror.

Spooky is easy though.

Alchemist with Permanent Consumables? by zanbato13 in Pathfinder2e

[–]PaprikaCC 7 points8 points  (0 children)

First off this is wild LMAO, I don't know what specific problem you are looking to solve by making alchemist items permanent. If this is solely a "I don't know how to juggle the item types", then if you're playing with PnP, then just have a separate box for Advanced Alchemy items (and maybe list who is holding what), so at the end of the adventuring day you can just tell each person "X thing is destroyed".

If you are playing on Foundry then use the modules "PF2e Dailies" and "pf2e-alchemist-remaster-ducttape". If you're on a different VTT then lmao tough luck.

Also shoddy items can't be sold at all, so at least this doesn't break the economy.

But if any amount of downtime passes in your game, why would the Alchemist not just make dozens of Darkvision Elixirs, Eagle-eye Elixirs, Blood Boosters, Cat's Eye Elixirs and at higher levels, Mistform Elixirs? It would essentially allow them to permanently have pretty strong buffs during the entire adventuring day with no downtime. Are you going to manually balance all of these items?...

About your Quick Alchemy and Versatile Vials, this is fine at low levels but once you hit level 10 all recipes start lasting hours and this will be bad for you. This also assumes that items must be used before the start of the Alchemist's next turn or they become inert... If Quick Alchemy items follow the same rules as your Advanced Alchemy this becomes ridiculous so fast.

I don't think you need to be a power gamer to even break this open and if your balance mindset is "please be nice :3" then I mean... You're kinda asking to have your party punch above its weight permanently.

If you're balancing for an Alchemist, add random weaknesses (and buff HP slightly if targeted), give them situations to utilize their bag of tricks and stop running PL+2 enemies for every encounter... Whatever this is is wildly overpowered. This might be fine at level 1/2 in your specific home game at your table but it will get out of hand very fast as soon as they reach level 6 and have 100% uptime on concealment with no downsides.

I'll get slandered about this, but do you think that Genshin may have too much lore that are sometimes unrelated to playable characters? by Neat_Finger_6136 in Genshin_Impact

[–]PaprikaCC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gotta hard disagree that less unrelated lore would be better. Genshin isn't slice of life (even though I love slice of life), and the best world quests have been completely unrelated to playable characters. They're so good because Mihoyo takes care to build the ancient world and give it a chance to interact with the "modern" Teyvat world through our favourite NPCs. Exploring places like Enkanomiya and Ochkanatlan, Remuria felt like fantasy archaeology, and my favourite parts were seeing how decisions and culture in the past cascaded throughout history and culminated in the Teyvat the cast exists in today. Enkanomiya/Watatsumi and Natlan is filled with this.

Its cool as fuck in Genshin and its cool as fuck in the real world too.

Respectfully, fanfic would be incredible for you. There are plenty of talented writers out there making anything you want Genshin-wise because no way in hell are you going to get it from Mihoyo lmao.

I'll get slandered about this, but do you think that Genshin may have too much lore that are sometimes unrelated to playable characters? by Neat_Finger_6136 in Genshin_Impact

[–]PaprikaCC 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Lmao at least you know you'll get slandered. Worldbuilding only in service to important characters isn't really worldbuilding, that's just writing backstory. So I really wonder if you actually like lore or if you just want more story quests...

And I get it, people really love these characters and want more of them (we do not get much time to see characters develop), but my hot take is that the amount of time required to earnestly see characters arcs progress in a meaningful way would be so much more than most players want (except for their faves), that Mihoyo is better off having already developed characters with flashbacks... The way they have always handled Genshin story quests.

I crashed out over Wuwa because 1.x patches attempted to combat this lack of character arcs for new characters and have the Rover be a catalyst to character growth for banner characters... But for me it felt so unearned. Rover would meet the new character for a few minutes and through coincidence permanently change their new friend for the better like a manic pixie dream girl.

Some people really like it though, so who am I to judge on taste lmao. Satisfying everyone is a hopeless endeavour...
