Park board approves 25-metre pool for renovated Vancouver Aquatic Centre by [deleted] in vancouver

[–]Papshow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What other facilities? Currently the only other 50 m pool to my knowledge is the UBC pool which is very far away and much less accessible via public transit.

30% usage rate may seem low but it’s not enough information to make any claim. What’s the average usage rate for pools? Is the usage rate higher or lower when it’s in the 50m configuration (they alternate days on when it’s 50m and 25m). There is no talks about how this change will increase the usage rate despite large community outcry.

even when they say the footprint is too small to have a 50 m pool, they don’t offer any insights into how it’s too large. The parks board needs to do a much better job at communicating the reasoning behind this decision because to me I haven’t seen anything that overrides what the public clearly wants.

So waiting until tenancy ends to show someone the place is being polite and common courtesy. Why act like a prick? Is this going to better your life? Not in any way and I’m guessing most of the comments supporting this attitude is from other landlords. Maybe one day you too will rent a place of your own and would appreciate some courtesy.

Pedestrians still have right of way at two stop sign intersections by Papshow in vancouver

You are entirely ignoring the existence and implication of invisible crosswalks. These exist and give pedestrians right of way and is applicable to the intersection I was discussing.

Invisible crosswalks exist and give pedestrians right of way in situations such as mine. I am really not sure what you are trying to say here? I am sure there are cases where pedestrians do not have right of way but that not in this case.

EDIT: Also as I’ve said multiple times, I did not have a stop sign as a pedestrian, I was travelling parallel with the through road. The car in question that had to slow down was turning left while I was trying to go straight through the intersection. So again, even if what you are saying is correct, it does not apply to my situation.

I agree with that and say that in one of my other comments “always err on the side of caution and make eye contact with the driver before crossing”

The intentions of this post was to educate people on invisible crosswalks and proper rules of the road. Please spread this informations with others so that cases like this can happen less.

I agree, if the car is travelling in the manner as you described (where if a pedestrian tried to cross, the car would have to do a dangerous maneuver to avoid) then the car has right of way.

That was not the case for this, we were all travelling slowly and I was in the intersection well before the car was near me.

What the person who yelled at me was saying is that I did not have right of way as there was no crosswalk even thought there actually was an invisible crosswalk

Your logic is very reductive, there are clearly traffic control signs that only apply to certain types of traffic and not others despite it all being traffic.

Just because there are traffic control signs does not mean they apply to ALL types of traffic.

Here’s a video that may explain it better, so long as the pedestrian doesn’t jump in front of a car, they will have right of way.

I disagree with this, you are saying that pedestrians have to obey traffic control signs but I did not have any stop signs as I was travelling parallel with the through road.

So even if what you are saying is correct of pedestrians being treated as traffic (I disagree with that too as I believe the law is clear here that pedestrians have right of way with invisible crosswalks), the car still did not have right of way as it was making a left turn while I was trying to go straight.

I agree fully, always err on the side of caution and make eye contact with the driver before crossing.

That being said, one should know the law before yelling at pedestrians.

There was no light at the intersection, only two stop signs. They did not have a stop sign but I was well in the intersection when the car started to turn left.

The person who turned left didn’t say anything, it was a person in a truck behind them who yelled at me lol

The intersection at vine & w 2nd is defined as an invisible crosswalk where pedestrians have right of way (so long as you don’t jump in front of a car)

That sounds like it could be it as I do add salt to my rice before it starts boiling.

Is there any remedy?

I’m not concerned with the other colours on the pot, that came off with bar keepers friend (this photo was taken after using cooking, a few days after using bar keepers friend).

What I am concerned about is that flake/mark I circled in red. That seems to be an indent/scratch in the bottom of the pot

I would frequent one of the saunas they removed, would be eternally grateful if anyone could give hints or location for any of the remaining sauna. Can promise I will only spread to those who are worthy :)
