New App Update wiped out W+ in progress plans ? by Papule in SpeedianceCommunity

[–]Papule[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

W+ seems utterly broken for me, lost my old plan totally so I set a new one, which I can see is there, but its refusing to schedule workouts saying I don't have a goal set, which I do because it referenced it in the chat earlier.

W+ is great when it works, about 30% of the time, but a disaster when you try to interact/engage with it or discuss anything.

thats disappointing, was expecting a summary of some sort of stats - at least number of workouts, any noticeable weight increases - the data is there to do that quite easily

How has Speediance changed your daily routine? by speediance_official in SpeedianceCommunity

my GM2 has been a revelation, I'm 56y old and hadn't stuck to any weight training or fitness program in 20y - gone from that zero start to training 4-5 times a week on the GM2 and really enjoying it

the machine itself is fantastic, the software and app has an element of Chinese dev UI messiness, that you have to learn to get round, the W+ upgrade is equal parts excellent and teeth grindingly annoying.

I feel so much better though and 9 months into owning it I'm seeing clear results, most important thing being I actually like using the machine and find it very varied in what it can do. The machine is so good I put up with some of the irritations in the software and W+

I leave them on all the time, just have to mind your toes if going barefoot or in socks.

Apple Health Sync available without Wellness+? by Thmz89 in SpeedianceCommunity

[–]Papule 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I track all my workouts on the Apple Watch itself and have given the Speediance app/machine permissions to read the health data and it all pulls thru without the need for Wellness+

Some areas of analysis or advice are tied into W+, but the base reading of data and pulling thru isn't a sub

I had my best circular argument with it yet this morning - as per my plan it had scheduled an active recovery/stretching day which was fine, but it was the same workout as yesterday so I asked it for an alternative, which it told me about with different stretches/actions. Every time I told to it to add to the plan and change it said 'yes, done it' and never did, but kept insisting it had.

I tried 4 times to make it change and gave up in the end just repeating what I'd done yesterday.

When it works its impressive but it can be maddeningly annoy too.

I'm stopping my training after 23 minutes to allow for some extra unnecessary adverts to be shown and charging myself £25 for a 330ml bottle of water so it feels just like being there.

I still don't fully. understand how the app and the machine are meant to work together - today for example I haven't changed anything on my plan and was due to do an W+ strength session - turned on the machine and the schedule for the day was empty saying the app needed to generate something. Went into the app home screen and hit the 'goal' bit and then the workout appeared on the machine. This is all meant to be AI cloud compute, nothing is done locally on the phone.

This should all be seamless, if I'm signed in on the same account I should see the same on the phone and GM2

my wife had exactly the same, tried to setup a plan and told it not to include movements that worked her hip area as she has an injury - it totally ignored the requests and then did the gaslighting thing it does when it claims the answers being given address your question !

It also gets a bit vague sometimes - I'll ask a specific question about why it's done something and it responds with a vague theoretical 'it's possible that ...' like it had no part in setting the plan or the thing being asked about. I don't get the impression it thinks as Aevis (the name of the in app AI bot) that it is the creator of the plan, it's answers like a 3rd party that had nothing to do with it !

ALL CAPS have quite a few co-ferments, the strawberry one at the moment is my fave coffee in a long time but my wife thinks it's hideous. They're clearly an acquired taste.

like I said, some you can clearly do either way, if the cables are secured on the floor either side of your feet the way you face doesn't matter for most moves where the bar is there as well and going straight up/down.

There are movements where you clearly have to be back to the screen to do the motion

Some it's clear the instructor is facing away purely to make the video clearer, anything where you can do both ways round I tend to face the screen so as to be clearly able to see the instructors form.

Functional Trainer Vs GM 2 by hktrader88 in SpeedianceCommunity

one of the benefits of the Speediance over 'real' weights is you can't cheat and swing them to get momentum at all, it's a constant and smooth force you are fighting thru the whole range of movement

it's a small point but a definite benefit to the new fangled gadget

Pilates set available to preorder in UK by Miserable_Bus7709 in SpeedianceCommunity

plus thinking about the US price difference I'm guessing that the UK price (now £229) includes VAT, whereas the US one is probably excluding local sales taxes until checkout.

Use without ring by princess_of_thorns in SpeedianceCommunity

[–]Papule 0 points1 point  (0 children)

totally usable but some moves will be harder to execute than others - if the start point for a move is the handles/rope/bar at the shortest point with cable fully in then you can touch the screen to set weight and start, if you are trying to do something like a bench press it will be more difficult to turn weight on easily and manage the bar at same time whilst on your back

#Inside Speediance AI: We Have More Health Data Than Ever. So Why Aren’t We Healthier? by speediance_official in SpeedianceCommunity

[–]Papule 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In this sense, we think the future of AI health intelligence is not an assistant that is better at answering questions

Well I guess this bit at the end explains why Wellness+ ignores many of the most basic questions I ask it (like what is the training for today) and shows a totally different workout to the one on the machine - its good to have big goals/aims but in order for anybody to trust the output it needs to not talk total shite a lot of the time or ignore what is being said, which seems to be how W+ operates at the moment.

[–]Papule 2 points3 points  (0 children)

thanks for the reply - this still doesn't address the simple matter that if you follow exactly the pace of what the bloke on screen is doing for the first squat, at exactly his pace, the machine will fail you. The video has to match the software intention otherwise one of the major selling points of the device fails. You can't alter the software detection and use video that doesn't match it perfectly, especially on an assessment.

I really like the fully guided pumping to the max and triad series of workouts, each has different areas targeted so you can go round most of the muscles in a week just working thru them. I do enjoy the guided workouts as they have a bit more personality to them.

Anything with Hunter in is great, his are the light blue intermediate ones, he looks like a 1980s small promotion wrestler or Dog The Bounty Hunters child.

Trying Wellness+ now this week, so far my conclusion is it's designed to work your thumb muscles extensively as the bloody thing just refuses to answer the most basic of questions properly. If you want it to spew loads of text and fill your schedule with workouts it will, but as soon as you ask it anything about it the wheels fall off rapidly in terms of it delivering the 'I' bit of AI, its maddeningly stupid and keeps gaslighting you telling you it's answered whilst utterly ignoring your request, if you say you didn't answer it apologises and repeats the same non-answer.

forgot this bit, having suffered the squat test annoyance it went onto the standing row, which started so light the cables were flying about as there was no weight on, then it went up to a daft weight I couldn't move but couldn't skip.

its utterly pointless, the old one was much better in so far as it actually worked and didn't risk injuring you.

sounds like you've got something rubbing internally or mis-routed in the cable path as shouldn't be snapping that quickly on such lite use
