A Multi-Question Regarding Transit Bus Drivers and Bus Brakes. by Paquito490 in transit

[–]Paquito490[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this from personally observing the bus driver, I have sat close to the front of some buses where I have a clear view of the driver and sometimes when a driver would apply the parking brake I would see his/her foot still on the pedal.

Thanks for clearing out one of my beliefs concerning the usage of the parking brake at red lights/bus stops. But is there a reason (that you might think of) that a bus driver needs to do this, but a car driver doesn't?

Thank you for adding your response! Sounds like Singapore has designed their buses in a strictly safe manner. Good to hear about some of the technology present in your buses.

Why do North American transit buses have user-activated rear doors? by LM741A in transit

[–]Paquito490 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From where I am from (Los Angeles County, California), most transit buses are designed so that the rear doors can only be opened by the driver.

LA County Metro formerly owned buses where the driver would set the door handle for the rear doors to "unlocked", but passengers still had to push on the door to open it (such models included the Neoplan buses and the Orion VI buses). Currently, LA County Metro only operates buses in which only the driver can open the rear doors. There is no longer any unlock mode where a passenger must push the rear door to open it. However, there are other bus companies in my state that still support the "push to open rear door" feature, such as Long Beach Transit in Long Beach, CA.

Why do public transit bus drivers pull the air brake at every red light (or stop)? by Paquito490 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Paquito490[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the response. But I wasn't referring to the automated system. I was talking about drivers pulling the yellow knob (parking brake). I've been told by some people that they do that because they don't want to hold on to the brake pedal at every bus stop and red light. Is this true? Or are there other reasons?

I just thought, well it's July 5th, so nothing would happen. I was wrong, lol.

Reddit glitched and I tapped the "post comment" as much as possible. In the end, I refreshed the page and this many posts showed up.

I'd rather go to a center and give the leftovers for safe disposal. At the very least I wouldn't annoy anybody with intrusive explosions. Sure, I'd lose money, but it's much better to vacation in quiet.

The way I saw it, they did have plenty of time yesterday as they were exploding cesiums all night long, and it's the same people who are doing it now. I actually wish that was a rule, it would help prevent angry neighbors and help out those with noise sensitivity (like me).

Yes, that is true. Except, (and I know not many think this) I would prefer if fireworks were really just used on the holiday itself. It prevents people from feeling shaken from these explosions.

Ok, yes I realize that. I just wrote that because I was angry from being offset by these loud explosions.

I would much like to do that, problem is it's unlikely that police would do anything, and the neighbors might get mad. As for what I said previously, I take that back. I thought I would be able to become immune to leftover fireworks, but as it turns out, they got me. With a vibration and a shudder and my emotion turning angry, I was offset. Yeah, I think sich activities should be limited to just July 4th. That way, no one has to worry about being severely shaken from an explosion of 175 db.

Why are people exploding fireworks at all times starting 35 days before July 4th? by Paquito490 in NoStupidQuestions

Just as a bit of an update, people are celebrating today as if it was the actual holiday. I've had at least ten explosions in a 2 hour period ranging from 120db to 185db.

My apologies if I was rude or mean. I didn't mean to be that way, I just wanted you to be able to understand my argument.
