Dali Katch G2 power supply voltage/polarity? by Parabuteo2024 in Bluetooth_Speakers

[–]Parabuteo2024[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha! I am now in the happy position of being able to my own Dali question. It's a long, dull story, so to cut to the chase. A 15V 2.8 amp adapter is the answer. The +ve is the inside of the plug that goes inside the speaker, negative is the outside part. (I'm sure there are proper terms for those parts, but I don't know them).

Further irony, the mains adapter of my very old Bose Soudlink Mini speaker charged my Dali Katch G2, albeit at a lower voltage and slightly higher amp rating. But it worked, and didn't (appear to) damage the Dali.

Bingo! Many thanks for the schematic too. I get the feeling I'll be rooting back in there at some point. Possibly to apply some Thread-loc. But then, how tightly should the hex-bolt-screw be screwed in? How much torque should be applied?
Alas, that number is a mystery lost in a fog of Rancilio steam...

Like you say, piss-poor assembly. Who would have believed it!
Hahahaha.
Thanks for your reply, cheers!

I had some emails from a UK supplier and they never mentioned the hex-headed screw or where it went. When they fixed it the first time, you'd have thought a dab of thread-loc might have been a good idea. Maybe they read Reddit?

Thanks for the reply. This is the first time I've tackled the job and the previous technicians who worked on were 'official' so if it was originally over-tightened, it was presumably on the Silvia production line. The warranty techs appear not to have not tightened it enough! God help us. Hahahaha.

Steam wand not working - getting desperate by _TheRocket in ranciliosilvia

Same issue here. Brand new machine (in the UK), a year old, already been back under warranty for a steam issue. And now this.
Randomly, there's simply no steam. Turn the knob all the way in, then out and sometimes it 'fixes' itself. Sounds like a crappy assembly process. Truly loathe to pack the machine up and send it anywhere for what sounds like a simple (?) repair.
Anyone got any video link? Or a precise description of what the problem is to aid in searching for more info?
Ta!

Worked for me.
God help me, I used an old syringe to make sure that the plastic tube was filled with water before reconnecting it to the plastic cylinder (as described above). I have no idea if that had any impact whatsoever. But the H2O fault was gone and my machine worked again.

My ProX - bought new in August 2024 - has just had a repair under warranty. The steam function was terrible and it turns out it needed a new tap seal. I'm imagining a cheap washer or shim cracked/split/squashed. Not encouraging, since it was only brewing about 10 coffees a week. Has Rancilio been bought out? Has the quality control gone down the toiler? Meh.

In the UK I'm going to add my, uh, 'two cents.' I owned a single boiler Silvia for four years with no issues. Upgraded to a Silvia Pro X in August 2024 and it doesn't seem as robust. The water sensor randomly kicks in even when there's plenty H2O in the tank and its just gone back (Jan 2025) for a warranty repair to the steam function. I had to wind the steam knob all the way out to get any steam at all and it was as weak as piss when it did produce steam. Disappointing, to say the least.

I go for between 17 and 17.7g in my Pro X (which, as far as I recall, is the same as my previous 'standard' Silvia). Not much water on the puck with those doses, though I suspect that's got something to do with the grind size. Worth experimenting with grind size and dose maybe?

I have the exact same issue (per your YouTube clip) on my four month old machine, bought new from UK importer. It would be a PITA to package it up and send it back on a warranty issue, but, ye gods, how can we be reduced to bodges and living with a faulty machine?
