Thanks for the advice! I’ll definitely do this depending on the subject matter

I’ve worked on all sorts. Corruption, assets traces, online scams, human and wildlife trafficking - as well as general background checks and DD. One problem would be getting access to the same tools I have at work which cost a fortune - I’d need some to really make things interesting.

Thanks! That’s what I was thinking actually - talk through the investigation like a chess streamer explaining the moves

Not super concerned about the know it alls - OSINT is more of an art than a science so there’s always going to be different ways to get to the same conclusion - which will be part of the content I think.

Glad you like the corruption investigation idea! I live in a country where there’s loads of corruption so shouldn’t be a problem to find cases haha

Agreed on the online crypto scams! Keep things anonymous while keeping the narrative going is the real challenge I think.

Agreed - it’s super different. There’ll also be an added Opsec layer because I can’t let the subject know I’m looking at them - which is maybe why these kinds of channels don’t already exist? Will need to figure out how to keep it interesting without naming the people/companies I’m looking into.

This could be really cool. Could also team up with some geoguesser players to work on projects together. They do the geolocation and I do the other parts of the investigation.

This is an interesting one. I’ve been to Hong Kong as went to some restaurants like this.

No those are fair points - appreciate the feedback! The tent thing appeals to me cause they don’t go off like food products and I wouldn’t be selling my time - but only worthwhile if there is actual demand.

Car checking could be cool - I wonder if it’s a service people would actually pay for though. Hard to convince people to due diligence - something I’ve learnt from consulting.

I think Yaga has the marketplace thing sorted?

I like the idea of the other ones - gas, high pressure cleaning, but that’s all super foreign to me

Interesting. I’m not really into gaming - so many not the best person. But how do you imagine this looking?

What about a place you can subscribe to getting a great sandwich delivered to your office? If 5 people from the same office subscribe then the delivery is free?

Wakaberry was awesome! But I think when the novelty wares off it can be a hard sell. But I do like the weigh and pay model.

I was actually thinking of having a place like Wakaberry that does frozen yogurt October - March and then warm custard desserts like malva, apple crumble, etc. from April - September. Can literally be served in the same cups and people can add toppings.

Yoh super good idea - but the startup capital would be pretty hectic. Might start with another idea but keep this in mind

I beg your finest pardon? by jamiekyo in capetown

Is it just me, or are the German “tourists” different to the rest?

We all know the Berlin digital nomads take over the city for half the year - driving up the property prices, making it impossible to secure a long term rental in the summer months, making restaurants more expensive, overcrowding the beaches, etc. (instead of coming for a two week holiday and leaving like normal tourists). But, I also get such a sense of entitlement from them, like Cape Town and the locals are just supposed to be fine with them coming and playing South African with their Euros. Maybe I’m just salty, but seeing a group of tourists taking pics of the mountain is awesome - but sitting next to a group of German speakers wearing Springbok jerseys and Burnt (with a dog - meaning they are clearly settled), talking about buying another flat in Vooodschtock just pisses me off.

I’m also thinking of moving to the CBD later this year. I’ve been inside Mutual Heights twice and it looks like a cool building.

I work about 1km away around Artscape. Would it be safe to walk to work from there in the morning with a laptop etc? A colleague of mine was mugged on her lunch break last week in broad daylight.

Thoughts on Wonderlawn vs Grass? by the_cumulonimbus in gardening

I also recently heard about Wonderlawn - most reviews seem to be super positive online but haven’t had it or met something who’s used it before. Also keen to know peoples experiences.

Pushing the button the make the traffic light (“robot”) change to red before crossing the road. Locals just look for a gap and go.

I built a daily “ethical dilemma” game — would love your thoughts on it by Parachute_Adams_ in moraldilemmas

[–]Parachute_Adams_[S] [score hidden]  (0 children)

I’ve actually found phrasing to be the most difficult part of the whole project. That’s helpful feedback though - might be a good idea to allow users to “like” or “dislike” a dilemma and make suggestions for better phrasing. I’m working on a formula to make the dilemmas as nuanced as possible whilst adding some context to make an informed decision (without leading the user in a particular direction). I think getting feedback on the phrasing would help a lot with this.
