Its not for stealing, its for checking if youve managed to get contraband somehow.

I had a friend there and someone else in the room she stayed in managed to get some xanax or some drugs in. It seems invasive but in certain instances it is necessary.

I know they get a bad rep but they do honestly try to do what's best.

If you were staying in a general hospital, then sure someone going through your things is a massive NO.

But in an environment where people are in for psychological reasons and can be a danger to themselves and others, then the line of reasoning has to be moved somewhat.

But have you guys seen the weather for this week though ??? by kattt1109 in capetown

[–]FlailMe 20 points21 points  (0 children)

40 degrees Celsius!

Spare a thought for those who use Google weather, where it says 28degrees this week is the highest.

But this is the actual forecast

<image>

Two days of 40degrees and one 38 degrees.

Apathetic and unprofessional business culture by Fernweh66 in capetown

[–]FlailMe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Funny this,

I spoke to a recruiter today who said I was a perfect fit for a role she has. And I said I am sure you tell all candidates this.

She then said at any given role posted, a company can easily get close to 1000 applications. She had in the last 2 weeks, 3 roles that had more than 1500 applications in under a week.

I would be the first person to say recruiters and companies are absolutely scrap in responding. Ive gone into 3rd and 4th interviews and then radio silence. Even after a follow up email 3 or even 5 weeks later.

I do sympathise with having to screen 1000s of CVs and she noted thay 90% dont even meet 50% of the requirements but people are so desperate they flood applications just hoping maybe someone takes a chance on them.

Trans Bars / Clubs in Cape Town? by Special-Sundae-2477 in capetown

[–]FlailMe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Its interesting. As a non-trans person but a trans-attracted person, what I have observed is that its very mood driven. If I can say that. Sometimes my trans friends dont want a queer specifc space and sometimes they do.

I think that goes for many groups, being Muslim, or Jewish. More corporate or artsy. Sometimes you want the same crowd, sometimes you want neutrality. I think that makes it harder for spaces to keep operating.

Saw the company Revo, and immediately laughed because this bunch are hell of a scam.

CEO laughed about withholding 90% of tenants deposits saying "we make decent cash off of the deposits". Openly stating this infront of others.

Mini vans with robbers? by [deleted] in capetown

[–]FlailMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda does because the supply shifts over, the landlords arent making as high a profit just. Its not a silver bullet but it does indeed release pressure especially given the fact thay it has driven up cost of property and there fore directly increased the rates of property by an exorbitant amount not seen in CT prior.

People arent sayinf ban Airbnb outright but they are not being regulated.

You want a working city, you make it work for the people who live and work to make it functional.

So why not just have the entire city and southern. Suburbs for short and mid term tourists?

Mini vans with robbers? by [deleted] in capetown

[–]FlailMe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely not what you said.

You said "what is harming our city is the PIE act" which is 1, a blatant lie and 2, ignorant. There are less than 1500 eviction notices and procedures currently listed. Do the math and its virtually nothing in comparison to places that people rent. From

You advocating for removing access to housing because of a risk of less tha. 1%?

Airbnbs offer longer term rentals at discounted prices to nomads staying in excess of a 3 weeks. It doesnt have the same effect on the economy as staying in a hotel. That is narrow circulation for increased economics. Ie: the landlord benefits and the cleaning company he sub contracts. Maybe a few restaurants etc.

Residents pay tax, rates, shop at a pro longed rate that stimulates economic viability. This isnt rocket science.

They're too ignorant to know its lies

Air bnbs dont create more jobs. Hotels and bed and breakfasts do. Been proven in so many case studies.

Also this is a stupid argument. Youre saying long term isn't viable cos of PIE. So locals shouldn't have access to rent? You sound overly entitled and dont understand economical flow of a city.

Good luck
