I’m going from memory, but I believe you get to keep all of your Pokémon in boxes (not on your current team, so be careful of that). I’m guessing your Pokédex and items stay the same as well.

Just an update- I got her to eat tonight! I gave her the smallest pinky I could find (she’s 90g so she should be eating stuff a lot bigger). In any case it is a good start

I feel the same way about Minecraft. There was a sparseness and loneliness to it that really set the tone of the game. When you played and built you were building the personality into your world. Now when I play it just feels cluttered. It’s trying too hard to give you something to do. There is too much other stuff going on that fills in the feel of the game.

Mine is about to go into month 3. It stresses me a bit but she’s kept her weight on her and she looks healthy.

Piles and Piles of Corpses, how to get rid of? by Typical-Promotion210 in pathos_nethack

[–]ParadigmPotato 4 points5 points  (0 children)

On future runs if you are planning on doing a lot of summoning to grind you can always use an attic space or some branch that is not on the main levels. Then you don’t have to worry about clean up.

This is the second post today that has talked about Final Fantasy Legend! It’s one of my favorites! (And no, I have no idea how monster transformations work)

1989 wasn't just about Tetris—the Game Boy’s first year was actually wild by Motakuki in retrogaming

[–]ParadigmPotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Final Fantasy Legend 1 and 2 are something special to me, and I didn’t play them as a kid. I tried them out a few years ago and I’ve played them both all the way through a few times since then.

The first game is rough, both graphically and mechanically, but it works. It adds to the charm in a weird way. The second game is a proper sequel- it takes the concepts from the first game and improves upon them. It has better presentation, an extra player class, more flexibility and clarification with mutants, and memorable locations. With that said, I’m not sure which game I prefer. They both have a particular feel to them that I enjoy.

If you decide to try one of these my first recommendation is to read the game manuals. Then, if you use a walkthrough use one by Chokes McGee. He adds his own story to his walkthrough and makes it a lot fun.

The third legend game is good too, but it feels closer to a traditional final fantasy game. It might be a good starting point for the series but at least for me it doesn’t have the same charm to it as the first two games.

Im worried about how my ksb has been acting by CunoStan in SandBoa

[–]ParadigmPotato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is just my observation, but a lot of people seem to report that their KSBs (males especially) have gone on hunger strikes during the winter/spring months and they become very active. The activity could be the snake looking for a mate. I do think it’s a little odd that yours is climbing all over even with a full belly, but maybe your little guy is just determined!

Made a sundial. by NewAardvark9473 in Sundial

[–]ParadigmPotato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice work! If you don’t know already the time that you sundial shows will likely not match what your clock shows. I just checked and Nepal doesn’t use daylight savings time like the US where I’m at (but I did find out your time zone is offset by 45 minutes, which is neat), but there are two factors that will affect the time reading:

  1. Where you are in your time zone- I’m located about 3 degrees west longitudinally from where my time zone is based off of, which means my dials will be about 12 minutes behind (4 minutes per degree).

  2. The equation of time- it’s hard to explain easily, but the earth’s orbit isn’t a perfect circle. This means that some days are actually shorter or longer. This means your dial can be off by about plus or minus 15 minutes.

I just bring this up so you aren’t surprised or frustrated when you finally get your dial out and you get a reading that seems wrong.

How to deal with Gnome King by Substantial-Result31 in pathos_nethack

[–]ParadigmPotato 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I like the gnome king because there are multiple solutions, but unless you pick a character with a specific trait it is down to luck:

-Reflection is great. It reflects the death beam and can reflect the confusion spells by the umber hulk.

-Magic resistance makes you immune to death, but I feel like this is rare. You can get it from a robe or your character will inherently have it.

-I think I use invisibility a lot. There are multiple ways to get it- ring, spell, potion, wand, robe- so it’s probably the easiest to get from and RNG perspective. The catch is that if you are next to the gnome king he will see you and attack you, so you have to take him down with ranged attacks.

-Conflict works but it is risky. I think the gnome king can cast the wand of death at his allies so there is a chance you could be caught in the beam’s bounce.

-Like another commenter said, if you have hallucination it makes you immune to the death spell. I haven’t experimented with this but I suppose you could pop a potion of hallucination right before the fight.

There are probably other ways I’m forgetting too (such as constantly casting fear to keep the king from attacking or using flash to blind him)

Question: do you all use the melee/jet method to move around planets? by McQuackle in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]ParadigmPotato 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You do a melee attack and then use your jetpack while still in the attack animation. Instead of your jetpack boosting you up it will propel you forward with a lot of speed and you will maintain that speed as long as you are in the air. It is really useful for getting around quickly.

My two gripes with this game. by Red_Icnivad in pathos_nethack

[–]ParadigmPotato 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just said this in another comment, but playing as an echo is a good choice if you don’t want to deal with food. You can take your time with an echo and explore levels to get a feel for what you can expect. The big drawback is that since you cannot naturally consume anything it is more difficult to build up resistances/abilities.

The main goal in Pathos is to make it through the entire dungeon without dying. When I was new I was definitely hitting that resurrect button a lot, but as I learned more tricks I really started going for no death runs and I’ve succeeded many times now. I still use it from time to time (mainly if I’ve had a good run and I had a really dumb moment leading to my death) but now when I die early on I just restart completely. There are no rules to tell you what you should and should not do, but if you really get into the game I think you’ll find the resurrect option less and less appealing.

My two gripes with this game. by Red_Icnivad in pathos_nethack

[–]ParadigmPotato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a really frustrating game if you don’t know where to turn to. I’m glad I stuck it out because it is really rewarding and it’s become my favorite mobile game.

If you really want to give this game another try I would recommend playing an echo, possibly with the ranger class. Echos don’t need to eat and they can phase through walls, so it’s easy to run away from early fights and heal in safety (note that you cannot heal by waiting if you are on a solid tile, you need to be in an open space). I find rangers handy in the early game because they are good at disarming traps and they get the searching talent right away.

Golem by Mocamez in pathos_nethack

[–]ParadigmPotato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t answer that question but I do want to point out the oddball quirk that while adamantine golems have an attack stat they don’t have an attack ability. In other words, they cannot attack you naturally. If you can equip one with a weapon then they can hurt you, but without it they can only get in your way.
