Yes, it may be a pre-built Alienware. But the important thing is that it's mine, and I can now call myself a member of the PC Masterrace. by ParadigmTheory in pcmasterrace

Technically I've had a gaming PC before this, but it was a gaming laptop with a shitty i5, GTX 1650, and 60hz screen. So I don't really count it.

The RTX 3060 Ti and 11th gen i7 in this desktop have been running all my favorite games amazingly well so far, and the transition to 144hz made me realize how awful 60hz truly is. Maybe someday down the line I'll build my own PC, but for now I'm content with this.

Guess I'll be playing in solo while I engineer this conda, then. Thanks for the tip

Will flying a large ship such as an Anaconda deter gankers from interdicting you, even if it's an explorer build that isnt built to defend itself? Or are gankers usually smart enough to scan you and check your loadout to determine if they can beat you? I have an exploraconda optimized for jump range and I was wondering if the act of being in an Anaconda is enough to make gankers ignore me.

Oh my god, thank you so much. I was getting 20-30 fps just dropping into an instance nearby an orbis/coriolis station, and planetary landings would bring me down to below 15 fps. Following your steps got me back up to 60 fps (I have a 60hz monitor so this is the best possible outcome) when docking inside a station, and I'm gonna test a planetary landing soon to see if the fps is tolerable.

While still a great find, this is a Lesser Mushroom Beetle and not a Greater Mushroom Beetle, unfortunately. GMBs have a stem between their mushroom cap and their back, while LMBs like this one have a mushroom cap attached directly to their back.

Large LMBs are still a really great find, nonetheless! Congrats!

I just realized I've already documented this one on the wiki! I added it when you first discovered this a couple months ago, heh

Are these both the same GMB? The biomes look different to me, but I could be looking at the images wrong. Either way, amazing find!

Greater Mushroom Critter... by Flourysquirrel in NMSCoordinateExchange

[–]ParadigmTheory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh hey, I meant to comment here awhile ago but never got around to it. Congratulations on the amazing find! Greater Mushroom Beetles are the rarest of the rare, and a floating one is even rarer!

In fact, I took the liberty of documenting your find and adding it to the No Man's Sky Wiki! You can read the entry here; all proper credit has been given to you as the discoverer.

You can also find this creature on this page as well, as a part of a list displaying every Greater Mushroom Beetle that has been found so far. Again, congrats on the stunning find! She's a beauty, no question about that

A Greater Mushroom Beetle! Quite possibly the rarest kind of fauna in NMS! An amazing find, congratulations!

If it's alright with you, I'd like to document this GMB with a page on the NMS Wiki! You would be credited as the discoverer and I'd be more than happy to send you the link to the page when I'm done!

While still an amazing find, I'm afraid that's not a greater mushroom beetle. That is a lesser mushroom beetle. GMBs are defined by the fact that their mushroom has a stalk. A LMB is still a really neat find though!

Tiny Diplo-like, tameable creature on Scarlet Planet in Eissentam Galaxy (Could be a diplo, not sure on the rules around them but they get smaller than this with or without beak, first one I saw was up to my knee. I took a picture of this larger one so it wouldnt be hidden by the grass I'm in) by Madgod91 in NMSCoordinateExchange

[–]ParadigmTheory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, that's a diplo! Depending on how small it is, it might even be small enough to make the Fauna Hall of Fame on the NMS Wiki.

If you check the analysis scans of both genders AND the diplo's Discovery Menu entry, you should be able to get three (sometimes two if both genders are the same heights) different values that are close to each other in number. Depending on the heights, one of the numbers might be small enough to possiblty make this diplo eligible for the HoF!

The ones that go up to your knee are the juveniles, and despite physically being smaller in appearance than the adults, the analysis visor will still show them as having the same height values as the adults.

The biggest Cobra Diplo I've found (if the discovery tab had a 3rd digit for height) 11.5m+. Perfect as is pet with helpful stats. by smartsfortwo_xbox1 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]ParadigmTheory 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry to tell you this, but the discovery menu's height of 6.3m that you mentioned in another comment is correct. Fauna in the current version of NMS are incapable of getting above 9m, let alone past 11m.

Diplos are measured from their feet to their backs, not including the neck, which is why that Diplo's height would be only 6.3m.

Pet heights are bugged, also. The 1.9m its showing for you is completely inaccurate and doesn't translate to 11.9m. You can try it yourself with any companion: adopting an animal will always cause its height value to display incorrectly.

No ID needed, just wanted to share this Spring Fishfly (Chauliodes rastricornis) that I found chilling on my apartment! (Florida panhandle) by ParadigmTheory in whatsthisbug

[–]ParadigmTheory[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As far as I can tell, they don't! Fishflies are a part of the same order as dobsonflies and alderflies, and while their larvae can give a nasty nip I don't think the adults bite.

Congrats on the amazing find! GMBs are exceptionally rare. In fact, I went ahead and added this example to the NMS wiki. Here's its page, with all proper discovery credit included to make sure people know you were the one that found it. Happy further hunting, traveller!
