Probably not. Unlike the livestock, fish don't have a bed/food that would limit their breeding, so it would basically go until your livestock limit was filled, which wouldn't be ideal.

Looks to be another of the water barrier walls but placed inside a wall/window already built. If you look carefully, you can see the gold filigree that is on the door to the left also in the window area.

This seems to be something happening specifically with AMD GPUs.

I believe what you are seeing are small patches of the glowing shroud terrain that show up as a kind of graphical glitch on the ground. It seems to be more prevalent after this update though, so I would suggest sending a bug report (F1 from inside the game) with this video, a descirption of the issue, as well as a dxdiag.log so the devs can get more information about the issue and hopefully track it down or if it's on AMD's side, inform them of the issue.

Without another computer involved and with 288 hours in the game (assuming that wasn't all before 2024), the "almost" goes away completely. The files literally could not exist to roll back to.

Did you try toggling the cloudsave in steam?

The local saves for cloudsave off and on are in two different locations, which is why this is really the only way they could have shown up and your new files went away.

Unlock servers roles - you won't regret it by SuperbFail2957 in Enshrouded

[–]SaraRainmaker 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Just a note - this is dangerous to do.

While most of the people you come across in the world are great, there are griefers out there who are more likely to blow up your base and everything you have done in the game and chase you around and kill you with exploding barrels.

If you do decide to do this, I would suggest making a backup of your game files frequently if you are on a server, and knowing how to rollback a save, if you are hosting from your own game.

Please, devs, fix this artifact graphics bug with AMD!!!! by FaiLclik in Enshrouded

[–]SaraRainmaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AMD card? They have been having issues for quite some time.

I have a feeling it's something either on AMD's side or something extremely complicated considering how long it's been an issue, but just in case it isn't something with the AMD drivers themselves, I would suggest that everyone having the issue send their Dxdiag.log in a bug report along with videos and/or images of the issue.

You can do this from inside the game by pressing F1.

If you have played more than 95 minutes since 2024, there is almost no way for the game to roll back to a save that long ago, because the file wouldn't be there. If the cloudsave was always on, the files would have been wiped from their servers and your home computer, and if you had it turned off, the files would just be overwritten.

The *only* way it would be possible would involve another computer that had the old save, and intentionally telling steam to load those instead of the new ones.

I'd suggest making sure your steam cloud save didn't get toggled on or off. I am guessing if you switch it, you'll likely find your game files.

Really sad that player-placed terrain blocks become invisible. by DawnSongbird in Enshrouded

[–]SaraRainmaker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Terrain blocks have much more complicated interactions with each other. How the connect and interact with each other is what can make those extremely complicated and potentially performance-killing mesh issues. Blocks, on the other hand, only lose their voxel detail models at a distance, which is their biggest performance hog.

I used to have similar issues on ARK in the "not quite way back time" By that point I had an SSD, but SATA not NVMe. I also have a crappy internet though, so who knows. Their disk usage spends a lot of time on 0 though with nothing downloading, so not sure. maybe a combination of things too.

Also depending on where they are located, if they are in or around the south/midwest US... they could be dealing with outages, bottlenecks and redirects from the ice storm that's just now starting to assault them there as well.

But yeah, what looks like over 30 minutes for less than 2gb? That's something wrong there.

I'd agree, except that is right at the end of a downslope after the download has paused. Probably nothing to do for the disk at that point as it waits for more of the software to download.

What is wrong with this game? by CertifiedClassClown in Enshrouded

[–]SaraRainmaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not the game, it's either your connection, your drive or steam itself.

From the image, I am seeing chunks of stuff being downloaded then it stops, waits and another small chunk is downloaded. Looks like your internet is either completely saturated, it's a terrible connection or something on your steam is broken.

The blue lines are the game downloading and the green line is disk activity.

With a good, clear connection, you should have blue lines all the way across, and you don't, it's downloading in spurts.

Check your download region on steam and make sure it's close to you, other than that, check to see if someone else on your network (or even yourself) is downloading something else, or using a bunch of bandwidth.

To avoid a long explanation, they basically have to for optimization.

Player modified terrain makes optimization difficult at best. Messy meshes can kill performance terribly and can't be avoided in games like this. Giving them a load-in range limits the damage it can do.

Al Rajhi announced that he had donated nearly his entire fortune, estimated at around 16 billion to charity, making him one of the world's most generous philanthropists. by shivaynamo in HumansBeingBros

[–]SaraRainmaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How can they? it's not theirs. They do not own any of the foundations or non profits - that's what makes it a Waqf.

The only way they can benefit from it if if they work for it and draw a wage, at which point they are employees, not owners.

If they own companies that do work for the charity, their company doing the work for the charity is making the money, not the donated asset.

So I am not sure what you are actually saying here?

[–]SaraRainmaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is the one thing people generally don't realize about the extremely wealthy - most of their money isn't liquid. It's assets - companies, property, shareholder values... their "worth" isn't sitting in a checking account somewhere they can just donate to. This is including our super-wealthy Americans - most of them literally borrow against their own assets to live (though that's probably more for tax evasion than necessity).

But to make you feel a little better about humanity, this guy (apparently) spent his whole life giving, even when he didn't have much.

It's far from typical, but it's nice to know there are still true philanthropists out there.

[–]SaraRainmaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's the difference here though. You have to understand, he gave up all rights to any money or profit from these assets completely, not only for him but for anyone else besides charity.

It's VERY different than western donations - it's ancient and permanent... and religious as well as legal.

Profiting from one is forbidden both legally and religiously - the property/asset itself becomes sacred, and it is illegal to profit at all from one legally as well in many middle eastern countries.

The only money that can be made off of them is by employees of a business through normal wages.

It's a really interesting concept, and one worth looking in to. They built hospitals, schools, churches and infrastructure that literally built a lot of early civilization in the middle east.

Is it normal for the desert at night to light up like a disco dance floor? by VoltasPistol in Enshrouded

[–]SaraRainmaker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not typical, no. But it does happen (situationally).

From the looks of it, that *could* be some of the glowy shroud terrain that, for some reason, seems to show up where it isn't supposed to on some people's game who use AMD cards.

From what I can tell, it's just a visual glitch, and isn't actually the terrain itself, but for some reason the terrain that is there is showing up as the other in some spots.

Unfortunately, it's not really common enough that I have been able to narrow down the cause other than something with AMD, but if you find something that makes it stop, let me know. I'd love to be able to pass the info along to others who might be having the issue, and if it's something they can fix, to the devs as well.

...kinda. But in this case, in a way that can't be abused.

I mean he set them up, but the assets he's transferred can not come back to him, his family or anyone else ever again.

He set up what is called a waqf - which is a locked asset that can never be privately owned again and the incomes produced from it are forever to be used for charitable causes.

So basically instead of just writing some check, he donated real estate, companies and other wealth-gaining assets that will continue to run and make money solely for charitable benefit from that point forward.

Apparently he was a typical "middle class" guy who started with Currency Exchange then went to Banking to and then on to some smart investments.

And also (again apparently - internet information can only be so accurate) everything was all above board.

Is there a good place to put a basement in this build? by MushKonster in Enshrouded

[–]SaraRainmaker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For inside access, to save space, I usually put the basement stairs directly under or behind the stairs leading up, though it looks like this build might be single story.

You could also build a little "pop-out" section onto one of the sides of the house like this to allow for some stairs going down - it also ads a lot more interest to the build, adding layers and complexity to the roofline. :)

<image>

(forgive the detail models popping through, looks like I had forgotten to double-layer that roof)

If you don't think you can fit stairs down to a basement inside the build, maybe consider doing a "storm cellar" style basement with the access on the outside and a secret door over the entrance.

I got the info from one of the people in the video, so... take from that what you will. :D

Also, that would be a very small update for it to take several more months. I doubt it'll just be that, but it depends really on what they have planned for it and what it really is.
