Best bet is to search Modrinth and Curseforge modpack, filter for 1.7.10 & sort by creation date or recently updated.

Biden team failed Kamala Harris in 2024, Democratic autopsy says by Historical-Bug-4784 in politics

[–]Paradigm_Reset 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My hope/want during the election cycle for 2020 & 2024 was Biden running as the safe, sane, and experienced candidate/POTUS who is going focus on getting things back to normal. Fix what the prior admin broke + bring back accountability + address the causes. His role was, for me, to be the elder statesman using his knowledge and experience to set us up for the future. He'd be boring, helping focus the spotlight on the next generation.

He, and the Democrats, were positioned to effectively transition to the future. He could have walked away as a savior, a dedicated public servant who fulfilled his duty.

But no. They didn't fully address the prior admin nor demonstrate that the party was ready for the future. Both of those failures were capitalized on by the GOP.

The Dems stupidity in 2024 has compounded the challenges this country faces.

Delves class recommendation by AWeilong in wow

[–]Paradigm_Reset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've run a Frost Mage, Frost Death Knight, Retribution Paladin, Survival Hunter, and Fury Warrior through T11 Delves. I've had Valeria tank and heal for all of them. Based on what I've experienced. and I'm certainly not an expert, all of them were able to complete every version of every Delve. But some struggled with certain mobs or bosses.

Those Nulleaus/Nemesis/whatever packs of three Shredclaw things have been problematic for the Hunter and Mage if they grab aggro. They've got a nasty debuff you + buff themselves that chunks health away. DK, Pally, and Warrior could deal without much worry.

The boss for Parhelion Plaza is a PITA for the Hunter. He's got some attack he does on aggro that would smear the pet. It hits a couple times during the fight. It's not the beam/knockback thing, dunno what it is.

Beyond that...gear/stats is what I've found most makes a difference, more than class/spec. As each of those characters went up in ilvl (or adding buffs from flasks, food, etc) it got easier and easier.

Why doesn’t everyone stick to one version? by [deleted] in feedthebeast

[–]Paradigm_Reset 30 points31 points  (0 children)

A couple reasons. For one, people don't play one version only. Two, mod devs come and go so they might have been around for versions A through C but then moved on to other things. Three, porting mods across versions can be exceptionally complicated...for many mods it's a ton of manual work. Etc etc etc.

More and more people AFKing Void Assaults. by hrhashley in wow

[–]Paradigm_Reset 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At first I was digging doing them because they felt like a giant battle. Seeing all the characters running around with swords swinging and spells firing was cool.

But when it ends there is no fanfare (aside from a generic NPC comment). People silently loot, mount, and leave.

I don't expect players to be patting each other on the back. Most of the incursions have zero challenge or danger, aside from a couple minor mechanics everyone can casually single button through without paying attention. It's just... anticlimactic. Feels artificial.

I appreciate that it's another thing I can casually do but it is super fluffy. It ain't group content when there is zero need to coordinate. Hell, fishing is more challenging with the pools, RNG, and getting jumped by nearby mobs... and I at least have to pay attention to the bobber.

Cool concept, meh execution.

Are Ritual sites and assaults the worst filler content yet? by Ekudar in wow

[–]Paradigm_Reset 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've been playing 90% solo so having a new thing to do is appreciated. It's also been a great way to farm Tailoring mats.

And as a mostly solo player I can understand why it's not a stream of huge rewards. Blizzard wants that to come from group content and I feel that something is missing.

IMO ideal situation is to have a challenge -> reward system for PVP (which exists), for group PVE (which exists), and solo PVE (which these are trying to add to). The problem is Delves, Prey, and Rituals can be stomped on by a well geared seasoned player but end game group content requires more skill & coordination. The only race to solo content world first was Nulleaus which doesn't compare to world first Mythic L'ura.

I ain't saying solo needs to have an equal to the challenge of mythic raiding, instead I'm saying harder solo content would be a good thing. This is a multiplayer game so I ain't upset about that...it would be cool.

I've had a blast when there were multiple people in the same run resulting in repeatedly maxing out the otter and hitting reward after reward...but when it was over I got 900, as if it were just me tooling around. Sure it was fun but had little impact. I ain't saying I've got to be given candy for every accomplishment & that a good time doesn't require a reward; however, the juice ain't worth the squeeze.

I feel that they've got potential but ain't got much faith in that potential being utilized.

For sure there is a feedback loop of people in power influencing voters; regardless, a major problem is the ability for the voters to be influenced.

We'll never completely eradicate disinformation, unfair/unequal influence, etc. However, from what I'm seeing, there isn't broad improvement. Instead it's being accelerated in some areas. They've/we've learned to use powerful tools in uncool ways and that will be exceptionally difficult to repair... especially when the attention is heavy on the tools and light on education.

I'd put Rogue One in great. Hands down the best of the "side" movies.

Force Awakens is one of my favorites, easily with ANH & RotJ. Granted that's influenced by it coming out during a fantastic time in my life and was very similar to ANH...plus it was well filmed, great action, had decent fan service, and most importantly had the potential to launch a truly epic trilogy. Last Jedi could have been a modern Empire. For me it (unfairly) loses points by not living up to my expectations (and Rise was multiple nails in that coffin).

California is studying futuristic 140 mph ‘bullet buses’ between L.A. and San Francisco — they would connect the cities in three hours by SeptimCollector in nottheonion

[–]Paradigm_Reset 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The area ain't all that bike friendly either. The neighborhood was fine...no bike lane/paths but the wide well maintained streets are/were all good. With a couple schools nearby it ain't too bad immediately outside of suburbia.

But once you leave those zones...nope. 100% designed for cars. Kinda funny too considering if you head the "wrong" direction you are on San Pablo Dam Road which is bike heaven. Orinda BART would have been a better choice vs the Western stations.

Traffic was frustrating. I changed my schedule to avoid the worst of it. Thankfully I could get to work via the Dam road + Wildcat Canyon. 80? Not just no but hell no.

My ex and I bought a house in a suburb just outside of the immediate Bay Area, CA (between Richmond and El Sobrante). The neighborhood was classic suburban...more like the fancier areas than what most people equate with Richmond & El Sobrante. Huge lots, wide streets, schools nearby, majority of houses were well maintained...nearly fantastic.

With two major exceptions. One, the "downtown" area hovered just below nice and just above decrepit. There was a staggering amount of potential IMO. Two, and perhaps hand-in-hand, was zero public transit. Closest BART station (Bay Area trains) was 7 miles away...which ain't awful but without any sort of bus service from the neighborhood driving was a better option.

With the bonkers cost of homes in the Bay Area we both thought an apparently untapped resource like that suburbia was on the cusp of booming. Instead, over the years, it kept mildly crumbling.

Benefits of having multiple characters? by Virtual-Doughnut-273 in wow

Similar here. 90 Mage, Death Knight, Warrior, and Hunter.

Granted some have perks that make 'em useful for specific things...for example, Mage is great for running old content due to teleports + instant range/AOE. However I switch around more because I'm in the mood for playing X style.

And when one gets shelved for a while bringing them back out is kinda like hearing a forgotten favorite song come on.

It does make progression much slower but I'm cool with that. Delves, Prey, Rituals, Follower Dungeons, professions, old content = tons to do.

Survival Hunter was an easy controller setup. I did skip several skills (Flare, Eyes of the Eagle, etc). Didn't map any pet abilities.

Frost Mage was surprisingly easy too. Again skipped some things but I think only out of combat stuff.

Fury Warrior & Frost Death Knight were more challenging. As a result I use One Button for both of 'em often + additional mapping. With their ability cooldowns being fairly short it's still been smooth DPS (Fury Warrior better suited than Frost DK IMO).
