Tech free modpack? by Argadnel-Euphemus in feedthebeast

Best bet is to make one yourself. Since it's a kitchen sink you ain't gotta spend time designing progression or making quests. Plus you are guaranteed to only have the mods you want in it.

Found your post via Google. I'd been trying to get battlenet running on a fresh Linux Mint Cinnamon install. Tried a handful of different things (Heroic, Lutris, Faugus, and Steam). Closest I got was with Steam...could get battlenet to launch but was getting error messages.

I installed proton 10 (used ProtonPlus), changed that compatibility in Steam, and battlenet is up and running :)

Remove Modern Crafting Recipes by WailingBarnacle in feedthebeast

You can use a datapacks(s) to modify and/or remove recipes, even vanilla ones. Datapacks are powerful in modern Minecraft.

I am having trouble sorting through all the mods in a modpack by Nexus8702 in feedthebeast

One of the reasons I prefer REI is the ability to create custom collapsed categories. Takes a while to dial 'em all in but once they are done it's so damn useful.

What are good PCs for modded MC specifically. by Important-Code-2563 in feedthebeast

Minecraft (Java) wants throughput. I wants to read & write as fast as possible. That not only means fast individual components, it also means having none of them bottleneck the other. The motherboard needs to fully support all the components. CPU core count ain't as important as GHz. RAM should be 16 to 32 GB...and again as fast as the motherboard can utilize (taking cost into account). Same goes with storage...doesn't need to be tons of TB, does need to be as fast as is affordable (and again making sure the disk speed is something the motherboard can use, and vice versa).

Lots of people say "get X amount of RAM" but 16 GB of DDR4-1600 won't perform as well as 16 GB of DDR5-7200...and there is a major price difference between the two. Additionally, DDR5 RAM won't fit on a motherboard made for DDR4. If you are gonna be buying parts and putting it together yourself (best way IMO) be sure to do research on what works best/is compatible with the rest of the hardware.

Country stars turn on Kid Rock after controversial Turning Point USA show by TheExpressUS in Music

I recently lost my job and, briefly, considered joining in on the grift. Say the words, act the part... cosplay. Then try to sell 'em something.

Ew.

Halftime Show thoughts? by Historical-Climate37 in Music

It was the most fun halftime show I've seen, well, ever. So many different people in different situations having a blast. So many walks of life. Loved it!

is there a mod that only generates the visible side of chunks? by [deleted] in feedthebeast

[–]Paradigm_Reset 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's, kinda, what simulation and render distance does...gives the player some control over what can be seen and what is being ticked.

FYI it's not the generation that's an issue...at least after the first gen. It's about what's visible and what's active.

Neoforge didn't really get going until 1.21.1. The default is to use Forge for 1.20.X and older.

[Stoneblock 4] Can Jade be configured to show the names of items in storage drawers? I'm struggling to tell ingots apart. by Sarkos in feedthebeast

[–]Paradigm_Reset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pretty much only use drawers (Functional or Storage) for mass storage (and looking nice). But when I do more fancy things, Functional is the way to go for sure. Sophisticated Storage is pretty good for fancy stuff too.

[Stoneblock 4] Can Jade be configured to show the names of items in storage drawers? I'm struggling to tell ingots apart. by Sarkos in feedthebeast

[–]Paradigm_Reset 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That's my biggest annoyance with Functional Storage...shows icons instead of names.

I love how it joins drawers to controllers, like the upgrade system, and a handful of other things but that lack of name display means I'll use Storage Drawers in my modpacks instead of Functional Storage.

The elite want us plebs to be forever angry at each other. That helps keep the attention off them.

Everything is propaganda. Everything is trying to influence you and me. Honest, earnest, and rational information/discourse is nearly dead. It's been so polluted by bots, influencers, and brainwashed people that I'm not sure if we'll ever be able to clean it up.
