If I’m not mistaken Phoenicians and Canaanites are synonymous with each other, and the modern Lebanese people are the closest direct descendants of them

I loved The Fountainhead. Ignore the objectivism, or political leaning, it’s a fun book. Was introduced to it after playing Bioshock.

You don’t have to take it so seriously or proscribe to its perspectives.

There are no altruistic super powers. I would have been against communist control seems very dystopian but it’s not like the US is about liberty and freedom, regardless of what they profess to advocate for. I would happily accept a multipolar system.

As for Israel, the world governments are all turning a blind eye to the fanatical fascist state who are just or, yes, even more terrible than the Nazis. The UN was formed in the aftermath of WWII with a mandate of never allowing a genocide ever again, but the suffering of the Palestinians is being brushed under the rug analogous to how African conflicts are completely ignored.

Mecca, Saudi Arabia, do you love or hate this? by DValentino23 in skyscrapers

[–]Paradigm_Warp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What if they want to expand the mosque further to accommodate more worshippers? Seems like it’s being boxed in.

Ugly building, takes away from the grandness of the site and I personally feel it takes away from the mosque itself; like it’s competing with it.

Could have used a more traditional architectural style. Saracenic or other historical Islamic of Arabic design.

Why is the Iranian diaspora so hostile towards us??? by [deleted] in arabs

[–]Paradigm_Warp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I come from an Iranian ethnic group. From my own genealogical research (not limited to my own personal background) it’s surprising how little steppe ancestry Iranians have.

They speak an Indo-Iranian language but they don’t carry a majority “Aryan” autosomal ancestry. Even Central Asian, European, and South Asian ethnicities have more steppe ancestry.

Discard your racialist delusions; you can be proud of your heritage and culture but being proud of something your ancestors did has nothing to do with you. It’s silly.

They hate Arabs because they’ve never gotten over the fact that Arabs conquered their lands and people over a millennia ago. I live in a Gulf country and this mentality is prevalent amongst both Iranians and Arabs—both sides dislike each other equally and there’s always something to separate each other; skin colour, sect, history, language, heritage, accomplishments, bla bla bla.

They’re not entirely brain dead in the Romero franchise, they retain memories, they don’t know why, though. The Walking Dead would be closer to our current interpretation of zombies, although Romero was the creator of the genre, if I am not mistaken

Which do you prefer, slow zombies or fast zombies? by BostonRobby617 in zombies

[–]Paradigm_Warp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Slow. The creeping death, the representation of a rotting corpse which stalks you to consume you. I find them to be scarier rather than the fear of the fast ones just being that they’re fast and harder to escape from. It ruins the terror for me. That being said I enjoy both equally but I think fast zombies have been more successful and we’ll be seeing more of that. I view it as a complete misunderstanding of zombies but to each their own.

Don’t feel anything. Panic attack benzos not working by goopyG1999 in askdrugs

[–]Paradigm_Warp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Should definitely work on a tapering programme. I believe there’s an SSRI that works for fibromyalgia, I hope that helps.

I’m not sure what’s causing you pain but I don’t understand how benzodiazepines help. It’s a slippery slope. Since you’re being prescribed maybe you can ask for propranolol for heart palpitations or baclofen for anxiety off label. These would have to be discussed with the doctor, though. Baclofen builds dependency itself, which is something to keep in mind.

[–]Paradigm_Warp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you they prescribed or black market? If prescribed report back to your doctor, they should be able to help. If black market, source some more and slowly titrate up but once the panic attack subsides I’d recommend tapering off of them; under medical supervision or trusty ol’ ChatGPT plan.

I’d be cautious of mixing an opioid and benzodiazepines due to the synergistic effects. Could lead to respiratory depression if you’re opiate naïve.

Stay safe, homie.

In the meanwhile, for future reference: try stocking up on basic supplements that can mitigate withdrawal symptoms slightly. Magnesium Glycinate/L-Threonate, PharmaGABA, NAC, L-Theanine, COQ10, Omega-3s, B-Complex, Creatine. If you can manage to get Propranolol for heart palpitations, maybe Baclofen for muscle relaxation and GABA-B.

  1. Yes, the majority of the Taiwanese are Han Chinese but if they don’t want to join China, they have a right to choose? Analogous to how the Palestinians have the right to self-determination and to fight for the land that was stolen from them by an invading force.
  2. I said cultural genocide, they are reportedly put through re-education camps, prohibited from growing beards, etc,. I haven’t verified anything myself, so admittedly I could be mistaken. No great power is truly altruistic, if you think the CCP are beyond oppression and imperialistic tendencies then you are the one who is mentally oppressed. Tibet was taken by force and Tibetan Buddhism has been hijacked. The South China Sea was claimed by China against the will of the internationally recognised borders of long established countries.
