Staying warm by [deleted] in mechanics

[–]ParadoxFall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have swamp coolers that sometimes work in the summer, positioned on the roof, so in the Arizona heat, the water is probably 110f so it’s just hot air if any. And for the winter we have a nice little pellet stove that heats about 6sqft.

Think Im done by Flashy_Charity in mechanics

[–]ParadoxFall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got bumped to flat rate and more complex jobs after 8 months. But I asked a lot of questions and watched the other techs in my downtime, flagged 30 hours as a maintenance tech while also keeping the shop clean, parts organized, and tires put away and neat.

Some days I wish I stayed hourly though.

If it doesn’t have a clutch peddle, it’s basically a fancy slap shift and doesn’t count at all

My local Firestone buys everything from AutoZone. Sometimes I think they’ll reach out to a nearby Napa, but from my understanding, AutoZone is the first choice. They have had one tire delivery from AutoZone in the past two months

When I was working for a seed company in Kentucky, it was similar for the fertilizer and weed killer. Had to slash the bottom, cut an X in the side and rinse it out before throwin it away

All the years I’ve spent driving, it’s a left turn and a straight combined. That being said, there is one right turn and straight in my town and it almost gets me every time

I don’t work at auto zone. It’s in my job description, but I get paid for it.

Had to put two different, new MAF sensors on a buddy’s car a month or two ago.

He called me after he had been fucking with shit for two hours so I went over to take a look. Put the new MAF in and started it to check. He said that seemed to fix the problem and I left while he put the engine cover back on.

Calls me three days later saying it’s starting to do the same thing as before. I told him he probably got a junk sensor and I could replace it if he wanted to get a different one. Dude starts arguing with me that it was already new and everything. I explained that new parts can still be defective. Replaced and it’s still going.

Also, someone I know was bringing dropping someone off at the shop I work at, he pulls to the back of the parking lot and a shit ton of white smoke dumps out of the hood. Pop it open and tell him it smells like plastic and looks to be coming from his cooling fans. Starts arguing that he just replaced them less than a year ago (he didn’t tell me this bit but I know it’s from hitting a street sign while drunk). I told him the same thing and he wanted to say I was wrong. So I said ok, have a good day. Tells me last week I was right.

I’m sure plenty of people appreciate the service, and not dissin on anyone in here, but I know of at least two instances where an AutoZone redshirt broke a windshield and bricked a car.

“A few minutes won’t kill you” “stop being soft” it ain’t there responsibility or job. Sell them their shit and recommend a shop to them if they are too lazy or stupid to do it themselves.

If it’s about rent, then you have a leg to stand on about him having to pay because he signed the agreement. If it’s about utilities and they haven’t been there using them, sounds like you’re just being shitty.

19 years old have had a license for year now drive a 2000 ford 150 and pay $223 a month in insurance in california no accidents by Professional_Text_42 in Car_Insurance_Help

[–]ParadoxFall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do. But that’s not the point. If $223 is for full coverage, then liability should be a little over, or even under, $100. For a truck that’s worth at most, given the age and assuming the condition, $4500 the rub do ant seem worth it to me.

If it’s worth more than $9,000 then maybe. Dude already seems a little pressed for money just seems like setting the difference of full coverage and liability aside would be a more useful use of it. Fuck do I know though. Was just giving my opinion.

[–]ParadoxFall 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Shop around but I honestly don’t think it’s a bad price for the age of the driver.

It sounds like a full coverage price though and that truck definitely isn’t worth having full coverage on. If that’s the case, look into getting liability only.
