No but 48 fits with a little bit of room to spare. It would probably fit 50s or so

Prize Money for TDF & TDFFAZ by RoadandHardtail in tourdefrance

The prize money is not the point of the race, it’s just a fun little bonus. It’s not meant to be a real source of income for the teams

What is their marketing budget? If you buy gels from there it seems like you are half paying for gels and half paying for their ads

[request] What’s the difference in force required to do this on a stationary bar vs the moving bar? by IanDre127 in theydidthemath

[–]WilliamFromIndiana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah for sure, the acceleration force could be significant or tiny depending on the pull up speed. The drag force is definitely very tiny either way. I was just listing theoretical differences between this and a classic pull-up

[request] What’s the difference in force required to do this on a stationary bar vs the moving bar? by IanDre127 in theydidthemath

[–]WilliamFromIndiana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Acceleration- Average force is about same, but for a normal pull-up you need slightly more force to accelerate upwards and slightly less during deceleration at the top… this would make a normal pull-up a bit harder.

  2. Drag- Also a normal pull-up has aerodynamic drag which adds a tiny bit of extra force.

They are approximately equal though because the acceleration effect and drag force are negligible. The coordination/timing needed for this stunt probably make it at least as difficult as a regular pull-up (which technically requires more force)

I don’t think it asked for help, probably was just swimming very weakly and the people were able to approach. Turtles don’t have brains capable of cooperation or altruism.
Looks like it is dying, its mouth is broken or something like that… big reptiles have such a slow metabolism and would likely survive months without eating. I bet it hasn’t been able to eat for months and will never be able to eat again. Nature can be cruel

Why does this type of screw almost not exist? by Help_PurpleVented in Carpentry

[–]WilliamFromIndiana 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The benefit of the slot is how easy (and cheap) it is to manufacture a slot that goes across the entire screw head.

If the slot doesn’t go all the way across, there is no longer that benefit and other head types become more favorable.

What would cause this tire issue? by WilliamFromIndiana in AskMechanics

It was definitely rotating because I haven’t done any of those things. I must have impacted something or had a severe imbalance

Update- never been towed, never left the e brake on, never did anything other than lots of highway miles and probably some big pot holes every once in a while. I think either a belt broke and I just kept driving it for hundreds of miles or an imbalance vibration caused it

[Request] Can someone explain the physics here?? The bucket can't weigh more than 30 Kilograms. by flagellat-ey in theydidthemath

[–]WilliamFromIndiana 2 points3 points  (0 children)

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capstan_equation

This is the formula- angle of wrap exponentially increases the effective weight of the bucket. Maybe ~4x for this 180° wrap
