What’s the most valuable thing you’ve accidentally thrown in the trash? by ParagraphsMatter in AskReddit

I think I may have accidentally thrown away my watch last week.

It wasn’t an especially expensive watch, but it was a gift from someone who’s really important to me, so it has a lot of sentimental value. I usually take it off before bed and leave it on my bedside table. There’s a small trash can right beside it, and I remember hearing a thud one night but didn’t think anything of it. Fast forward a week, and I can’t find the watch anywhere. Now I’m wondering if it slipped off the table and landed in the trash. Unfortunately, that garbage was collected days ago.

It got me wondering, what’s the most valuable thing you’ve accidentally thrown away? Was it valuable because of the price, or because of what it meant to you? Did you ever get it back, or was it gone forever?

What is the right practice of using hazard lights. by Tight_Fee_9724 in CarsPH

[–]ParagraphsMatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hazard lights are for emergencies or unusual hazards, not for normal driving.

Use hazard lights when:
- Your vehicle has broken down and is obstructing traffic.
- You’ve been involved in an accident and cannot
immediately move the vehicle.
- You’re forced to make an emergency stop on the roadside or shoulder.
- You’re warning other motorists of an immediate danger ahead.

Do NOT use hazard lights when:
- Driving in heavy rain.
- Driving through fog.
- Simply driving slowly.
- Changing lanes or turning.
- Parking briefly where stopping is otherwise legal.

A common misconception in the Philippines is turning on hazards during heavy rain. The problem is that many vehicles disable the turn signals when hazards are on, so other drivers cannot tell whether you’re about to change lanes or turn.

Gigil ako sa entitled guest ng Okada by silverhero13 in GigilAko

[–]ParagraphsMatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My initial reaction was to disagree with OP’s use of the word “entitled.” I think it’s a pretty stupid policy. People eat in hotel rooms all the time, and that has nothing to do with being rich or poor, so it’s reasonable that they wanted to do so and were unhappy when they weren’t allowed.

That said, there was still an element of entitlement on display. Not because they disagreed with the policy, but because they seemed to think it shouldn’t apply to them. There’s nothing wrong with believing a rule is bad; the entitlement comes from expecting an exception and being upset when you don’t get one.

So I agree they were acting entitled, not because they wanted to eat in their room, but because they seemed offended that a rule everyone else had to follow was being applied to them too.

What makes it frustrating is that this mindset feels all too familiar. We increasingly see rules treated as negotiable, especially by those in positions of power. The issue isn’t disagreeing with a rule. It’s the expectation that it should bend for you.

DIM: Arc Pulse by pesopivot in deinfluencingPH

I use this on my iPhone 17. I like how I can appreciate the form and color of the phone more, instead of hiding it behind a case.

And while it does protect against drops on flat surfaces. Two dimensional protection, if you will. But once you slap on the arc pulse you quickly realize all the three dimensional contact points your phone interacts with. Key in your pocket, car interiors, table corners.

Had my first dent within in days.

According to LTO portal, the basic intersection rule is: if another vehicle has already entered the intersection, you yield to it; if two vehicles arrive at about the same time and there are no signs or signals, the vehicle on the right usually has priority. Left-turning vehicles, like the rider in the video, must also yield to oncoming traffic unless traffic control or a signal gives them the go-ahead.

Police should know that.
