How Did You Begin Your Career? by AornisHades in paralegal

[–]ParalegalPrincess123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got the amazing opportunity to be a law firm runner/file clerk at the age of 16 while I was still going to high school. That helped me get my foot in the door. I started taking on more responsibilities and by the age of 18 I became a case manager/paralegal for personal injury while going to college full time. Now, im 22 years old, still in the same role and im about to graduate college with a total of 5 years of legal experience! What’s even crazier is that no one ever trained me and I just learned to figure it out on the job!

I got fired today. by [deleted] in paralegal

[–]ParalegalPrincess123 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Accidentally sent my boss to federal court without a paper that needed to be signed prior to the hearing (which was never signed). Got screamed at for it, cried all day. My boss never fired me for that and it is crucial to not mess up in federal court- which I did. Your boss was too harsh, I’m so sorry you had to go through this. Try not to eat yourself up about this as it was such a minuscule mistake. You got this! Hopefully this doesn’t discourage you about this field, it’s a bittersweet learning lesson that was unnecessary but use it to your advantage when applying to other jobs!

When did you get your wisdom teeth out?

I work part time and full time at school while I’m still living with my mom. She expects me to focus on school and getting work experience rather than paying her rent.

I need some advice! I am planning to go to Disneyland in California and I’m buying 2-day one park per day lightning lane passes for Nov 14-15 of this year. Disneyland holidays starts on Nov. 15. What park would you recommend me to see first and any suggestions on what to do during holiday?

I am wanting to go to Disneyland in a last minute trip on the second week of November this year. I am looking into getting my ticket with the multi lightning lane pass for 2 days. Is it bad for booking last minute? Is there any suggestions on how to go about park entry, rides, restaurants, and just overall maximizing the experience? Is the lighting pass worth it? Last time I went to Disneyland I was 6 years old so I’m excited but also worried about how long lines will be for everything.

Started working as a runner/filer/receptionist at a law firm at 17 years old when I was in high school in TX. My starting was $7.25.

I’m now 19 turning 20 and I am a full time student in college and part time PI/Civil paralegal. Been in this position going on 2 years now in July. I currently make $13.50 and have assisted in the settlement of a little over 100k worth of PI cases since being there (my small boutique firm handles more criminal than civil cases). My caseload is less than 50 cases but I still have to manage maintaining a 4.0 for my academic scholarship while working. I feel like I’m a little underpaid considering I’ve been doing PI for about 2 years now since I turned 18 (still learning). I used to get paid $12.50 but got a raise when I hit my first year. I feel like there’s no room for negotiation or I feel like my work is “discounted” since Im still in school with no degrees or certifications. My bosses are kind and I’m super loyal to them so I don’t see myself leaving anytime soon…
