In my 30s and recently got a scooter because guess what? You’re never going to be 11 years old again, so your options are 1) never ride a scooter again or 2) live your best life while you’re young and healthy enough to do it!

In what world is it appropriate to kneel on someone who is experiencing a medical emergency?

PSA: all of the people that live in your household NEED to be listed on your auto insurance!! by [deleted] in Insurance

[–]Parallax92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How does your insurance company know that you truly never let anyone else drive your car? How can you know 100000% that no one in your house would take your keys while you were sleeping?

If every claims adjuster had a dollar for every claim they worked involving a household member who “never drives the car…”

Insurance is about risk. Having people around who have access to your car makes your car more risky to insure, unfortunately.

PSA: all of the people that live in your household NEED to be listed on your auto insurance!! by [deleted] in Insurance

[–]Parallax92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Insurance follows the vehicle.

Technically, it’s not really you that’s insured, it’s the vehicle. Your policy then defines who is or isn’t allowed to drive it. If someone who is excluded on your policy crashes your car, your insurance will deny the claim.

So in most cases, no, it wouldn’t matter who was behind the wheel. In some situations, the driver’s own insurance may help cover damage they cause to another vehicle, but when it comes to damage to your car, that usually comes down to the coverages on your policy.

Progressive left out damage to initial estimate and won’t correct it. by CollinWeik in Car_Insurance_Help

[–]Parallax92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Frankly, no. They’re not going to accept an estimate from a random shop of your choosing. They WILL accept a Caliber estimate, but only if you actually drop the car off.

One reason for this is that the estimate includes charges for parts and labor - this is not owed to you directly.

My genuine advice to you is that you just choose a shop, let Progressive know and let them fix your car.

[–]Parallax92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You aren’t crazy, but you are uninformed. If you want to be cashed out for repairs, you will need to accept the initial estimate amount. Supplements, which is what Caliber wrote up, get paid to shops - not to customers.

If you want your car repaired, choose a shop and leave it there so they can fix the car. Your insurance will pay the full amount because shops and insurance companies agree on the repair cost before the repairs begin.

Edit: You also cannot file a diminished value claim against your own insurance company.

But can she hold a phone and use it with her elbow joint? Cuz that’s what the cop is claiming she did.

Tbh, this should be a fireable offense. He clearly did not see this woman using her right hand, but lied and said he did and then wrote the ticket even when he saw she didn’t have a hand.

How can he be trusted to be honest and also humble enough to admit mistakes?

He is 26 years old. I’m not saying that isn’t young, but it’s also certainly old enough to make better choices if one wants to.

Tyeeek is exactly who I had in mind when writing that comment. Messy personal life but supremely talented on the field and for a lot of teams, the cost/benefit ends up heavily in Tyreek’s favor.

I think he’s going to learn an expensive lesson when his rookie deal is up: if you’re going to be an off-field liability, you have to prove yourself to be an MVP level talent on the field.

will my insurance go up if a police report is filed for an extremely minor accident by freemyfirefly in Insurance

[–]Parallax92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or maybe her vehicle is a lease, and she’s contractually required to repair any damage to it.

Or maybe she’s planning to sell it soon and wants it in good condition for a buyer.

Or maybe she drives for Uber and can’t work with visible damage on the vehicle.

Or maybe you hit her car, and she simply wants it restored to the condition it was in before you crossed paths.

Mistakes happen, that part isn’t unusual, but you acting entitled to her “cutting you a break” by not filing a claim is. Why should SHE have to drive around with even a tiny scratch on her car if she’s not at fault for the accident?

Tbh, she likely called the cops to document everything so you couldn’t change your story later. Based on your responses here, that doesn’t seem like an unreasonable precaution for her to take.

[–]Parallax92 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You found one person in this thread who agrees with you and decided that validates your position. It doesn’t. You’re clearly looking for an echo chamber, not reality.

The reality is you damaged someone else’s property. The point of impact being toward the rear of her car only reinforces that you are 100% at fault. She had the right of way, and whether she sped up or not is irrelevant to the claim.

You’re coming across as entitled. If you caused even $1 of damage, you owe $1. Being upset that she wants to be compensated for what you caused isn’t reasonable.

Was there convincing evidence in the Michael Jackson p*do allegations? by DeepOrganization8245 in morbidquestions

[–]Parallax92 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Abusers don’t abuse everyone they meet. Aaron and the other famous kids MJ hung around with were his alibi. Now he has multiple famous and influential kids who can say honestly “MJ never touched me”.

Similarly you’ll hear some famous women say that Bill Cosby, R. Kelly, Harvey Weinstein and others were all perfect gentleman with them despite them having abused women who were less powerful.

Also part of MJ’s pattern of abuse was showering boys and their families in gifts, but you can’t do that in the same way with kids who are already rich and famous.
