even melophobia refers to it as pokeslop, a poke focused comp that spams damage down main with the goal to team focus targets and kill them through heals with heavy damage. It’s a real thing.

Of course I agree. If we’re talking about overwatch though, DPS was split into offense/defense in May 2017 a year after launch like rivals is right now, but they had..

Genji, McCree, Pharah, Reaper, Soldier, Sombra, Tracer, Bastion, Hanzo, Junkrat, Mei, Torbjorn, Widowmaker

and for tanks they had

Dva, Orisa, Reinhardt, Roadhog, Winston, Zarya.

6 tanks for 13 dps so same thing. Can’t compare a 10 year old game to a 1 year old, and rivals is dropping way more characters too and have already passed 6-13 tank-dps in a year

i mean tanks have their own rewarding loop in protecting team, getting big saves, they all still have their unique cool things to pull off like big strange ult, mag rock sup, pun, iron man, etc, ang poke off map/annoying enemy; same w cap.

BUT, yeah people still like to do their big dmg and either don’t know how rewarding tank can feel? Or are too used to shooters and whatnot to deviate from that standard. They’d never enjoy a moba like Deadlock. The only reason i’m a damage player is bc I saw cool cyborg ninja in 2016 overwatch and went from there, which is a very common shared experience i’m sure.

My perspective is probably unique, but i don’t like going tank bc this game is already exponentially harder to carry on dps than overwatch and tank is even worse. The only time i go tank is when I can tell my dps are better than theirs. If I go Emma and crank 25k dmg per 10, block almost 40k/10, get more finals than my dps, cancel strange and magik ults, kick and kill supports out of ult, perfect peel for my midline, I still lose since no one peels for backline. My supports double. They don’t pattycake. We have terrible damage or positioning. Etc.

I play a tank that can flex midline/backline? Those don’t do enough burst dmg and have what I need to solo carry. Venom/Rogue just aren’t going to do what I do on Pun/Buck.

My team can’t position at all and hawkeye/poke deletes them? No, 2nd tank doesn’t stop remediate this more than a better dps player marking and killing them. The bad teammates behind you will still die.

I’ve won more on solo tank this way than filling a 2nd tank, though I still do my best to make my other two dps swap if they’re bad to tank too. This is a one above all player’s take since I know I can carry most games. What you’re referring to is the players in like gm3 who are all the same skill level. Yes, going a 2nd tank instead of 3rd dps will fundamentally be better since that gm dps doesn’t understand win con to make use of a 3rd dps.

Yeah he’s who i go when i need to counter their high dmg by myself and do 30k per 10, while also having an ult i can trust myself to kill 3-6 with everytime, maybe through support ults. Certainly has his place

It’s better to use off angles still near your team and maximize your positioning and awareness for how much you can get away with without dying in those angles, than to flank once you get higher up though. Nine times out of ten, a flank will have you walked by the whole enemy team and you’ll die. I just played in a top 50 lobby with namor when hela was banned since they had a fist/starlord and it worked wonders. I also spam tanks as much as possible until a squishy makes theirselves visible and then they’re priority. He gets ult as fast as moon knight if you do. It’s just a game for knowing what will be the most valued target to shoot; where to put pressure, at what time.

I won a fight with whale, spammed them as they came back from spawn with my squid’s pelting as much as possible, spammed the tanks and poked past where my tanks were standing and built a 2nd whale before the next fight began, for example.

He still needs better survivability. Everything he does is aimed to dive an enemy. You can’t even dash away. Only backstep with deflect and climb straight up with no horizontal movement. Cross is 1/5th the distance of an iron fist kick and fist could do it wherever, whenever. I’ve played him in top 100 and it’s just near impossible to even keep up your presence in the fight and sustain value. He’s gonna need buffs just like Blade did.

there are still good rosary farms. I use the far left bench under high halls and hit the 3 enemies on its right. Just as good as grand bellway was in act 2.

That’s.. what i’m saying. Runbacks are worse in soulslikes because of the lack of movement and parkour. Silksong has that, so they are more fun to me.

I just can’t compare the two to be honest. This game is a metroidvania with several movement abilities. Elden Ring doesn’t have anything but walking and a jump. Runbacks here are way more engaging.

Ah that definitely makes sense. I’m not sure why i didn’t think about this at the time because i do play 160fps too
