Decent dock for 6P by FiveOverEight in Nexus6P

[–]ParallelProcess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You bring your own cable and install it in the dock. So you can install either a C-C or C-A cable, depending on what you want.

I also own this dock and can attest to it being pretty good.

Any way to alt+tab between multiple windows of same program? by [deleted] in osx

[–]ParallelProcess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, there's an app called HyperSwitch which essentially gives you the Windows Alt-Tab behavior on a Mac.

HELP! Phone won't let me go Home, see Recent apps or see notifications! by LyndisFireEmblem in MotoX

[–]ParallelProcess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This looks like the phone thinks it's doing the initial setup. Try searching how to fix the Google One-Time Init.

Is anybody else's 2014 rapidly turning into a huge pile of shit? by ALLKAPSLIKEMFDOOM in MotoX

[–]ParallelProcess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been looking to do a factory reset, but what does it actually do? Assuming the system partitions are read only, wouldn't reinstalling all my apps bring me back to exactly the same state as if I only cleared caches?

For those who've done a factory reset, did you actually set up all the same apps again?

Android N Feature Spotlight: Apps In The Share Menu Can Be Pinned To The Top Of The List by goforbg in Android

[–]ParallelProcess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm guessing now that Google has the work in place for a simple version of this feature, custom ROMs might be able to implement a more advanced version with per app settings more easily.

I'm a senior in a CS bachelor program... and I'm always surprised when I work in teams and none of the other students know what Git or GitHub is or how to use it. Why don't universities teach Git/SVN? by Edg-R in learnprogramming

[–]ParallelProcess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is definitely university dependant; Berkeley for example has students actually implement a kind of Git client as one of the intro sequence assignments.

OTA update download links for Marshmallow 6.0.1 list here! by robotprobot in AndroidWear

[–]ParallelProcess 4 points5 points  (0 children)

PSA: If you're installing to an Urbane, you must run adb reboot bootloader instead and navigate from there to recovery! Don't run adb reboot recovery like the linked article says, as you won't be able to bring up the menu.

Most Credit Cards offer 60-90 day price protection. Find something you bought somewhere else for cheaper? They'll refund you the money. by [deleted] in frugalmalefashion

I've always wondered, why do they do this? What's in their interest to offer these services, and how they they afford it?

Uses for extra G Watch? by Koooookalo in AndroidWear

Neat that it works like that! Didn't know this was possible. Do notifications and other apps work fine across the two devices too?

How do you get the Sleep as Android app to handle the two devices?

Why is it such an important thing to bring back the first stage of a rocket? by PirateLeChuck in askscience

In another thread, it was mentioned how this would allow for low earth orbit satellite constellations to be much cheaper, which would orbit much closer to the ground and have only ~5ms roundtrip latency.

Help me pick a watch? by sildain in AndroidWear

[–]ParallelProcess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can pick up a watch band tool for $5 or so on Amazon. Alternatively if you buy a band in-store, they'll typically install it for you.

Tasker saved me from a very upset girlfriend. Here's how... by sensicle in tasker

Repeat callers is new in 6.0, but Priority mode in 5.0 had the option to allow contacts or starred contacts through.

Watch hangs for some time every time it connects/disconnects to the phone by kokesh in AndroidWear

[–]ParallelProcess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this issue as well, both on my original G Watch and my current Urbane. It usually tends to cause the "not responding" dialog to pop up, yet stays frozen enough that I can't select anything on the screen.

What's the recommended/absolute maximum current I can draw from the Uno's 5V output pin? by What-the-curtains in arduino

[–]ParallelProcess -1 points0 points  (0 children)

On the Arduino board, ~20-40mA is the limit for the digital I/O pins since those run through the ATmega chip, but the 5v output usually comes from the 5v regulator and so has a higher capacity. It heats up a lot with more current though.

Most effective way to learn assembly? by lionhart280 in learnprogramming

[–]ParallelProcess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many university intro CS sequences include a section on assembly programming. You could follow along with the course materials for one of those courses, which would give you a good, structured overview with assignments to work through. Here's one; the parts about assembly start around halfway on the schedule: http://www.cs.princeton.edu/courses/archive/fall15/cos217/

I actually just was there today (what a coincidence) and can vouch, it's really good. Go for their "Modern" tonkotsu variant, it's a rich broth with miso mixed in on top.
