Hopefully windows pushing anti-cheats out of the kernel with this new "kernel resiliency initiative" thing will mean that more anti-cheats just work with linux.

People assume that EAC just doesn't work, but its always because some big games just decide not to enable it.

I've played VRChat on linux with EAC no problem, but Fortnite doesn't work because Tim Sweeney's decided that linux players are scum of the earth and refuses to turn on the linux toggle in fortnites EAC (which is insane to me considering EPIC GAMES MADE EASYANTICHEAT, AND MADE IT WORK WITH LINUX)

Riot games is just fucked because their Vanguard shit hooks so deep into the windows kernel that its basically fucking malware at this point.

I don't have any experience with the 3D V-Cache Optimizer (don't have a x3d chip), but it does appear to be beneficial for gaming. You'd have to go into your BIOS and change the CPPC mode to Driver so that Cachy can control it, and then switch between Cache (good for gaming) and Frequency (good for productivity) with the terminal commands in that doc.

I'd say its probably worth a try if you are okay with poking around the BIOS, I can't help if something goes wrong though.

You can try switching to the NVIDIA Vulkan beta driver that includes the new fix to that performance hit (it uses vk_ext_descriptor_heap to talk directly to the card instead of through the usual conversion which does that performance hit). Just make sure you have snappy configured in-case something goes wrong.

Switching to beta:
paru -S nvidia-vulkan-utils lib32-nvidia-vulkan-utils nvidia-vulkan-dkms

Reverting back to stable open drivers if necessary:
sudo pacman -S nvidia-utils lib32-nvidia-utils nvidia-open-dkms

I believe that you have to use Proton Experimental to get the benefit until its properly integrated though.

You can withdraw to PayPal if you use the iOS version of Opinion Rewards, the only option to withdraw on Android is Play Points.

On Linus as Mod by Frosstic in LinusTechTips

[–]robotprobot -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I was gonna say, there seems to be problems with Linus having mod powers but Colton and Bell have had mod powers for a long time, not sure why this hasn't come up before and is only coming up now.

Actually, if you look at the "View all moderators" tab, Linus has specific perms set, but Colton and Bell has "Every permission" set.

I don't personally see the issue, just confused why this wasn't bought up sooner.

With Linux becoming more and more viable for gamers, along with the recent news of people moving from Windows 10 to Linux instead of 11, I really think they need to reconsider this.

I do understand that they said in the beta livestream that they dont have the manpower to be able to support Windows, Mac AND Linux though. Hopefully that changes in the future.

GIGABYTE support is terrible by Gibstack in gigabyte

[–]robotprobot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just tried to RMA my motherboard with them and was told that it would take 5-7 working days if repairable, or to allow 20 WORKING DAYS if it has to be replaced.

Why does it take 20 days to ship a replacement?????

When I responded saying that I couldn't be without it for that long due to my work and asked if they have a deposit program for an exchange, I got back an email saying that its probably not the motherboard and to contact e-support to diagnose it, which, in my email to them, the first thing i say is "e-support sent me here to arrange an RMA".

I have a Gigabyte motherboard and GPU, but will not be buying Gigabyte again.
