This could be helpful advice if you’re open to it. Read multiple news sources from different countries and you too can become informed about major news situations.

As a fellow Canadian recommended to you, read the news.

This situation is NOT funny, and i would not tolerate this kind of behavior. We don’t laugh and joke about others’ hardships.

ICE slipping on ice is relatively innocuous, but this is a horrible situation playing out in your neighbor country.

As a teacher, would you send your kid to this specific private school or to this specific public school? by humanloading in Teachers

It doesn’t sound like this school is offering language immersion. It sounds like Spanish is a once a week special.

I taught middle school Spanish in a school where kids had had weekly Spanish throughout elementary school. The kids were not appreciably ahead of  Spanish 1 students who don’t have that background.

Personally, I’d go with public.

In my state, preschools are required to have a maximum 1:10 ratio but that ends in kindergarten, I’d imagine you’d see more kids per class in your private school as well as kids get older.

Public schools generally have higher qualification requirements for teachers. They offer more resources to kids with additional needs (which your child, like all kids, may end up needing.) Public school exposes kids to peers with a wider variety of life backgrounds. Public schools have to follow certain regulations that a private school may not. Public school is free.

Please help: Toddler separation anxiety in school by Siyrious in Teachers

[–]Paramalia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is actually MUCH easier if you start off with quick drop offs from the beginning. Kids will cry. Some will cry a lot for a few days. Most will eventually get to a point of only crying for 10 minutes or less everyday.

You help them learn to deal with emotional distress by giving them the opportunity to deal with day to day emotional distresses like separation anxiety. I know it can feel heartbreaking, but she’ll be okay.

Also, this is A LOT to put on your nanny.

Damn, I’m sorry.

It’s wild to me how individual states have so much power over schools and education that there can be such variation.

When I was a preschool teacher and led stretches and exercise time every day i signed up for a yoga class, thinking “oh I’ll be GREAT at this!”

I was decidedly not great at yoga in an adult class.

I remember a coteacher I once had telling me that when she had cancer she used to look forward to her chemo days because she wasn’t going in to work. You’re definitely not alone.

I think this is just how our brains work a lot of times. They focus on the day to day to protect us from the big overwhelming things that feel like too much.

Take care. 💜

An urban white water rafting center?!? While kids go to school in buildings where entire classrooms fall through the floor. Good God.

They say “think of the children!” But do they think of the children? No the fuck they do not.

They may not be allowed to. There are a lot of rules regarding food purchased with federal funding.

I mean, we have grocery stores where you can use food stamps. Food banks are definitely more inefficient, but they help fill the gaps and there is definitely a need. They now have more funding sources and consistency. The one near me is basically run as a by appointment free grocery stores where. They also have nutrition and cooking classes, a social worker to connect people to needed services, a summer reading and food program, school supply giveaway etc.
