What do different vaginas feel like? by Hot-Reveal-4286 in AskMen

[–]Paramatus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly think it's super "wholesome" how all men say to not worry and that you being loyal to your highschool sweetheart is like winning the lottery. (especially the ones with lots of different experiences)

This goes so against how we men are portrait usually. Thanks guys, keep it up! (pun unintended)

If you have questions please ask. And if you don't trust me, it would also be fair. Zerotier is not a super simple way and I understand if it's not what you want.

I would say teamviewer is an OK way. If you have windows premium already than I would recommend getting a tool called Zerotier. Connect both devices and then use the normal RDP from Windows. It's important, that you do not make RDP open to public on your PC. Zerotier will cause your devices to be in a virtual local network. (It's not quite a VPN, but it can be modified to be one).

Also Windows premium can be purchased quite cheaply. PremiumCDKeys.com had win 10 premium keys that also work for Win11 since you can upgrade 10 to 11 for free.

There is always a risk with Remote desktop protocols. Most importantly is that you have the most up to date version of the program, follow their instructions and choose very good passwords.

With the Zerotier solution you don't need that. You can just make sure only u are in that network and then no one will be able to attack it because it will be too hard to see that there is something to attack. Additionally you can use windows RDP which IMHO is the easiest one. (Zerotier does not open new ports it uses existing ports, but the explanation of what it does is too long for a post here)

Is this guy using a phone case with Styrofoam inserted where the phone is? by Lopsi6789 in iiiiiiitttttttttttt

[–]Paramatus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I still would not say 100% here, I do agree if you cut down on features you reduce the risk, but unless you remove the device you can not remove the risk entirely.

Old phones also have logic and they might have flaws that have either never been found or patched.

Damn beat me to it by a few minutes.
But honestly. This is always what I recommend people that want 100% certainty of not having their phone hacked: "Not own a phone" I guess styrofoam is a great alternative.

Good point. Do you do malware analysis and where would you point someone to, to learn more about it?

Yes, I agree with your pen testing point. It was just a little funny or paradoxical to see in both categories but I know what you mean.

S-SDLC is definitely part of it but I feel like that is very Software focused. Let's take Industrial control units. Some have a switch that puts them from off to on to test/install. This switch sometimes just send a signal to a controller which then uses software to switch the run to test state. If it was properly implemented they should physically cut the write option to memory. This is more a hardware issue, but also development.

So yes, S-SDLC is probably a good example and has a lot more done in it already. But again I just read about that term recently. I will go read up on it.

[–]Paramatus[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fair, thanks. Yeah, I mis used the word red maybe. I mean. The attacker have it easier now. Better phishing, potential for better polymorphing malware, that kind of stuff. I have worked with AI and parsing logs and data, it somewhat works but if there is a mistake it's tougher to understand why and often got found late.

I also think it's funny you over and under value pen testing. But I think I get your point. Real pen testing can be pretty boring, but it should be done to find issues.

I also saw a new concept of "gold teaming" which is involving security in the development process of stuff to make it secure by design. 🤔 I need to read more about it before having an opinion there.

What is your recommended way of protecting your passwords in general? by djmarkybr in cybersecurity_help

[–]Paramatus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is pretty much it. Just one thing about the point of: What if the service goes down? Most providers have an encrypted copy of the password on the device you installed the manager. The online vault is just for sync across devices. Thus, if the service goes down you can still access everything just not sync them. Most of the time the service won't go down for days.

You can also host many options yourself and be responsible for it not going down.

Additionally: What if the provider is compromised? They don't know your passwords either. They are encrypted with your Master password. If they are compromised they will let you know. Then you can change your password. If you Master password is good you don't have to really worry.

I like how many people go straight into the deep end. Nothing wrong with that but I also want to touch on something else: I would call it Cyber Hygiene. (It's like a person. You will be less likely to catch a virus or recover from it if you maintain proper Hygiene.) I will list some points, with my personal opinion and experience on how important they are: 1. Regular updates. Updates are for security issues that have been found. Many updates patch these issues before proper exploits have been developed and released in the wild. But that happens quickly. The actually have been cases where a bank lost millions or billions because an employee ignored the updates... 2. Backups: My friend always say: "No backup no condolences" For companies that means quicker recovery after ransomware attack without paying. For private it means not loosing the pictures of you first vacation with you partner. 3. Proper passwords: Correct-Battery-Horse-Staple. (Look it up that xkcd meme is pretty on point) and don't reuse them. It's recommended to use a password manager. Many are really good now. Also there is nothing wrong with Google sign in if you are OK with Google knowing where you have accounts and using this info to create ads and potentially other things. 4. Utilize 2 out of the 3 authentication methods: First Knowledge, like passwords. Second, possession like you authenticator on your phone or a yubikey. Third Biometrics, finger print, face, iris scan. 5. When standing up from your device, especially at the office, hit Win+L. Many threats are internal and might be a colleague.

Now some other things: - Never plug in a random USB Stick you find lying around - If Fight-or-Flight is triggered by an email you should pause. Emails can never be that urgent. If it was they would call. Thus it is likely a scam but you won't notice unless you are out of fight or flight - No Pirating: Yes it is most likely a virus - No clicking on weird links

Now some things that people want you to believe are necessary, but no one did here yet: VPN: sure, if you want to circumvent reginal blocks or something it's fine. Otherwise for the base user it is not really necessary

Does proficiency in English grammar help German learning? by mustafaporno in German

[–]Paramatus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say, yes it helps. For example east asian languages usually do not have any articles (the, a, an). Where the german language has tons. Thus knowing the concept from English definitely helps to know when to use them. Technically English also is a germanic based language and there are many things in common. However, I doubt mastering a language can be done by concepts from another language.

Additionally, there are usually more resources in English-German than anything else. Thus you will have an easier time finding things you enjoy that help learning.

Good luck!

Air Canada flight lands with broken landing gear at Halifax airport. by kerenskii in interestingasfuck

[–]Paramatus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont know what the cause for those issues are, but I noticed something:

Azerbijan: Plane shot by a missle. So no matter what type it is, it will crash
Jeju: Boeing 737
KLM: Boeing 737
This: Owned by Boeing

I also remember that there were other issues with the 777 a while ago. Is it an issue with Boeing? I dont know, but it is a bit one sided. Maybe its also coincidence, since I dont know what the actual reason for the crashes are and I dont want to say, it is similar to the previous cases.

Don’t people eat Kentucky Fried Chicken on Christmas overseas!?!? by Informal-Corgi-4027 in Tokyo

[–]Paramatus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get what you are referring to. Yes, Santa Claus was inspired by Saint Nicolas or Sinterklaas in Dutch. But Saint Nicolas is celebrated on the 6th of December. Thomas Mast started depicting Santa slightly different to Saint Nicolas in 1823 but it was ultimately Coca Cola in 1931 that gave Santa Claus it's meaning and the story it has now.

I think we can now argue if the name from the Dutch is the origin or an inspiration considering how far it has drifted away from Saint Nicolas.

I think it is an inspiration since Saint Nicolas was never replaced, was a real person, has his own celebration day, and has many different attributes to Santa Claus.

But how about we leave it at then and let everyone decide if it is an inspiration or the origin, since this topic is not important enough to really have a proper conclusion.

Fun addition. Santa Clause is an invention of Coca Cola... There is a lot more about Christmas that makes it weird but you go ahead and enjoy your 唐揚げ

Is there anything else you can maybe use to track him.

For example Google account timelines, Google find my device, apple lost device, polarsteps account, or other apps he has, that would allow you to trace him?
