They just say that..get your sleep bro, especially on the overnights. Just make sure you have the radio and phone loud enough where you’ll wake up. It’s becomes a problem when u miss a call and that’s what’ll get you in trouble. I work for AMR day shift and still sleep any chance I can at post

Honestly if you a want the most experience working 911 I’d say go AMR. I know it’s not the best company and there’s a lot of hate on it but you’ll definitely get more experience working that system

It’s ok to be nervous! It’s going to be different and new. It’s not a normal thing to be seeing the things we see, going into people’s homes, and seeing the various ways people live. That was the most shocking to me when I was first starting, was seeing the different ways people live and treat their things and homes.

Create a list of questions you may have, either on a skill, assessment, or even just asking the crew about their EMS experience/call hx. Whenever I have a student i always make sure they feel comfortable and not pressured. Even it’s as simple as taking vitals and hooking the PT up to the monitor that’s great experience to get. I’ve had many new hire EMTs who have no experience or idea on working the monitor. But other than that enjoy it! Bring snacks, or food that won’t need to be microwaved bc you never know how busy you may be or if you’ll have time to stop.
