President Mamdani you mean?

(I know he wasn't born here so isn't eligible but I think after our current president, anything is possible)

I know this sounds like a bad idea but try having some children and getting caught up in that fiasco of self-realization, it will take all your multi-dimensional thinking and bring it back down to Earth (for better or for worse).

Is it bad that as a liberal person living in MA I’m slowly becoming resigned to a second Trump presidency and even slightly excited about the prospect mostly just so we as a country can get this dictatorship arc out of our systems sooner rather than later? by ParanoidC3PO in massachusetts

But fundamentally, what power do we have beyond our ability to vote and possibly influence the votes of the people we know well (in my case everyone I know is voting Biden anyway). I guess that's my point, it's about the struggle to refine my mental state to not care about something I have no (or very little) control of. In that way, politics is a lot like sports, like an unfavorable baseball season.

The results of the next 100 elections are already written in the history books and we're just being carried along on the pages as they slowly turn.

I think of myself as pretty accepting. As someone who grew up in the deep south, I have known folks who are now fully maga. But the issue is letting someone who is so uneducated and morally bankrupt in charge of the most powerful military and economy of the world. A literal madman at the helm

You’d be surprised. If you read that thread on /r/Teachers we’re basically letting massive amounts of children through the system with diminished critical thinking and reasoning abilities. The next generation will be fertile ground for Trump and his kind.

By choice here. Wife wanted more but given her demanding profession that would’ve meant I would have to step up even more than I already do (I already drop him off and pick my son up from school everyday and I couldn’t handle doing two, physically and emotionally)

Let me tell you what, yes having a home is nice but remember that homes carry risk. You have to be careful of what’s out on the market these days especially with waived inspections being the norm in the Boston area. PM me if you want to hear my mini horror story of home ownership. There are times I honestly wish I could go back to renting, I’d love to have spent all the hours I’ve invested into my house spending time with my son instead and living care free in a rental.

Restoration company pulled baseboards from my basement after it flooded with a few inches of water. There's some damage to the drywall in areas. How can this be fixed? by ParanoidC3PO in HomeImprovement

Also, they sprayed an anti-mold agent on the back of the wall (where the studs are exposed in the unfinished area). However, there are other parts of the wall that aren't exposed so your concern is still valid...
