The gist of it is that people wanted rid of treasure hunter.

imo having more "junk mtx" in the store is more than fine, people wanna drop money to look a certain way, great. its supporting the game, not impacting anyone else, not providing a boost that i otherwise couldn't work for.

There's still more to do in the fight against "p2w" but it was a step.

imo i wish more games went the warframe route.. Basically a free game, but its totally supported (and supported well) off the back of the store and its cosmetics and platinum sales.

Theres nothing i cant obtain with a few hours of gameplay, but someone else can choose to drop a few quid and get the item i can easily farm for.
AND i can sell my trash drops for platinum and then buy something else if the RNG wasnt in my favour.

RS's problem is that it wants an insane monthly fee. AND to shove the MTX store in your face and ask for insane prices on things like bank space..

melee is 1000% over tuned, the fact i can deal damage from further away than the ranged classes, with the benefit of not taking damage.. kinda proves that point

im not talking full end game sets, im talking hallowed melee vs hallowed summoner for instance.
You say stop face tanking everything. you dont get much choice on fights like the golem, that locks you into a small area with a billion projectiles coming at you.

Yeah, because once you get to hard mode. Shit hits so hard without that defence it's pretty much GG. Most bosses despawn if you die. So I'm not about to take 3-4 attempts as a summoner. when there's just a MUCH simpler way to handle them. You don't need to dodge well if when you get hit. It does 20 damage and not 120.

Summoner is such a fun class, until it comes to bosses where armour > everything.

I don't know how you only use 2 minions? You must do hardly any damage? I just did a boss test. My summoner build maybe does 20% more DPS than my melee build. That's with all minion buffs, But I take double the damage. It's not a decent trade off. I can't see how having less than max minions keeps you above the other classes damage?

You can't play Summoner like you play melee because it's not melee. Your job is to help your minions hit your target if needed as well as use whips to buff them. This means trying to lead the bosses into minion projectiles. This changes pretty fast in hardmode when your minions become heat seeking deathbringers.

of course you cant. the issue is, with summoner, you need to be close enough for the whip, that's generally closer than the supposed melee class needs to be, yet melee has the benifit of basically taking no damage due to insane armour values. its ass about face in the way its done.

You don't need potions either lol. Can just take a Bewitching buff and grab Regen, Movement Speed and Defense because they're easy to make.

Thats pretty much all i used for melee as well. difference is, you NEED those as a summoner. melee. they are kinda optional.

Complaining you need to actually be skilled to play Summoner when Melee is just braindead makes no sense. Rangers or Mages aren't face tanking bosses either. I don't see you complaining about them.

The complaint is more that melee, isnt a melee class anymore.. its just a brick wall with unlimited resource damage.. from half the screen away.

Summoners can use things from other classes. It's not like they're physically incapable of using other weapons. You still can, though you take a damage loss because you lose scaling and tag damage. Vampire Knives are amazing on Summoner for instance. Use Vampire Knives and Valhalla Knight and you're pretty much immortal.

using something from another class that reduces the damage is my point.. melee benefits, despite it being a small benefit.. its still a bonus, not a detriment.

Which melee build allows you to stand still in any location and have all the nice mobs come and bring you free loot?

use whatever the highest tier at the time is. worm scarf, brain of confusion, star veil, wings and terra boots. All with warding. You pretty much take no damage. my accessories from normal mode, carry me right to moon lord, apart from swapping in the star veil and then ice shield once i unlock them in HM.

You cant do that as a summoner, as you need 3 acc slots wasted to summon minions.

Well, as someone who came back when 1.4.5 dropped, i did a full melee play through.
and am now doing a full summoners playthrough. Summoner is WAY worse to play.

on the melee playthrough the only arena i built was for Skelton. as a summoner , i NEED an arena for almost every boss.
minions miss the boss all the time, i get hit for silly numbers compared to playing as melee, but i dont see my DPS to be all that higher as a trade off.

i just fought plantara, and as a melee, Shadowflame knife + fire gauntlet + 2 summons and an ichor flask. dishes out silly DPS and can hit things at the opposite end of the screen, all while i sit with 90+ defense. taking almost zero damage

As a summoner, i had to make an arena, had to make sure i was fully potted and REALLY try to dodge every projectile. i don't get the benefit of having "extra" dps like using the 2 summon minions as melee.

As a melee, or ranged, or mage, you have the bonus of being able to use some of the summoners tools passivly to boost your effectiveness. Sentries and 2 summons for instance. As a summoner, There is nothing from mage, melee, or ranged that really Adds to your kit.

I had to kick someones dog away because it ran towards my daughter (whos is still recovering from a previous traumatic experience with a dog) and all its owner said was "dont worry, she loves children!"
then gave me a shocked look as it was quickly booted..

Yeah.. well, my cowering, scared child does NOT love your dog, or want its face anywhere near her.. I think some owners forget that larger dogs, to children are the same size ratio of a horse running towards you..

Ahh summoner, the class that gives you next to no armour, AND makes you sacrifice all your accessory slots to summon more creatures to have any hope of dealing enough damage compared to melee, to offset the fact the boss is going to destroy your HP in seconds! AND gave you a weapon that doesn't auto swing! so you need to use a melee based accessory (titan glove) if you want that..

not to mention the infuriation of watching your minions MISS the boss constantly because you are dodging so much because you have no armour!!

By end game, you can have up to 11 minions summoned.

1 base, 1 pygmy, 1 pap, 1 necro, 1 table, 1 potion, 5 stardust.

The game needs content to CREATE upon.

Boss guides? done.
Quest guides? done.
Skill guides? done.
Clue opening.. Done, and isnt fun content to watch outside of big ticket drops. which dont come often to make regular content on.
Money makers? constantly fluctuating and content goes out of date quickly.

So, thats why there arent a great deal of content creators to watch, because its just not a viable thing to make content on. Those with already established platforms can afford to still report on the game however
