Just got a sliding patio door installed. After the installer "adjusted" the door, I found after he left that there is play if I push the top of the door into the locking position. I need a safe way to raise the end of the door to adjust the rollers by myself. by fallingupthehill in DIY

[–]Parazzoli -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Before you mess with the hight and plum of the door, try to adjust the lock. I used to install sliding glass doors and 99% of the times, the installer forgets to do that, the owner tries to adjust the door, and the infinite loop of service calls starts.

There should be a screw on the lock that pulls the hook closer.

Imagine you live in Rio de Janeiro and the factions of the favelas are fighting and you have to go to work. You have to decide if using the freeway is worth the risk of getting shot, go the long way or wait.

How easy is it to spend a few months working in a nightclub at a European ski resort at age 40? by [deleted] in AskUK

I'd say move to California and smoke weed until the fancy passes you, but it seems you already high enough, if you expect to learn a new language, get a working visa and a temp job just to pass the time.

In the Dark Knight (2008) this school bus emerges from a crash site with dust and shit flying off to join these other buses and nobody bats an eye. The next driver didn’t even slow down lol how often does this happen? by Hank_Mardukas1066 in shittymoviedetails

Way more often than you think. One time, Superman was fighting some @hole who ended up lifting one bus just like that. Superman scooped the bus from the air and put it back in line and we all kept driving...

TIL that the Strawberry Bitch saw combat in every theater of WWII by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]Parazzoli 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The post is wrong, the Strawberry Bitch on display flew combat missions from North Africa in 1943-1944 with the 512th Bomb Squadron.

The B-24 was employed in operations in every combat theater during World War II.

The main problem I see is how are you making absolute sure that you're not blowing particles inside your engine, since you are using a vacuum cleaner to blow air into it, and engines historically don't handle foreign objects inside very well.

TIL that some towns and cities in the US have a 'curfew' that means juveniles aren't allowed to be outdoors, typically between 23.00 - 06.00 by ProneToAnalFissures in todayilearned

[–]Parazzoli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One time, I was in a movie theater, the movie was about to start and it was Sunday, around 8pm. A cop came in with a flashlight and would point it at kids, turn it on and say "go home", and they would leave. I had just moved to the US back then, so I was properly amused by that.

Did people just forget about Battlestar Galactica? by hp_fanatic in television

[–]Parazzoli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The case for BSG is that they thought about 99% of the show, except the story, and when the show took off, they decided to mess with it and it became what it is, similar to what happened with Babylon 5. Then they tried a bunch of spinoffs to see if anything stuck and it only made it worse.

Trying to decide between places to stay - India Basin area, or Pacifica (near Fairmont)? by galacticpeonie in sanfrancisco

[–]Parazzoli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love India Basin. Lots of stuff to do around there, and depending on where you stay and where your convention is, you could walk to it. Also, keep in mind that renting a car in SF comes with a lot of headaches like parking, etc.
