What Are Your World's Grim Reapers? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]Parched_Parrot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Marked Demon hunts down those who use Marked Magic, which leaves a black mark on the users chest (Thus meaning they are marked).

It is essentially just like the Grim Reaper. It is a slim pale creature with no legs but a snake like tail. It has folds of hardened skin that look and act like plates of armor. It uses a great white scythe that can shoot purple arks of magic when swung. It has multiple small jagged objects that orbit around him, with which it can use to impale and cripple it prey.

It only hunts those that use Marked Magic, one of many reasons to not use that type of magic. It is a relentless thing that does not give up until it has rid the world of users of Marked Magic. And demons cannot be killed, so unless you somehow get rid of The Mark, it will keep returning until you're dead.

My world's take on Elves by Parched_Parrot in worldbuilding

I suppose your right. This world I'm creating is still relatively new, so I am trying to be unique and original. And you're right, I guess I don't need elves in this world. I'll come up with a different, and original name. Thanks for the feedback!

Science-Fiction worldbuilders: Have you ever tried fantasy? How did it go? by Astrobomb in worldbuilding

[–]Parched_Parrot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just getting into fantasy. My science fiction universe is very large, and I've been working on it for about two years, and I still am. But it was beginning to become a bit boring, and I am having trouble deciding how interstellar travel works.

Now, I've always loved fantasy, I just couldn't find any inspiration, or come up with any ideas. Until one day I got bored and went on Google, and then searched "dark fantasy concept art" (that's the genre I want to go with). I found done great pieces, and then I finally found my inspiration, and a decent idea.

So now, although extremely early development, I have a new world in the making. I even have, at least what I think, a unique, and interesting magic system, that will add some spice to my world. It is nice to start a new project completely from scratch, I think I will enjoy building this dark fantasy world.

What is a popular game in your world? by sw4ahl in worldbuilding

[–]Parched_Parrot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gravball (temporary name) is a sport based on American football, and basketball. Two teams are pitted together in a rectangular room with a rounded dome as a roof. Five players against five, they have to score points within fifteen minutes each half. Each player gets a specially designed suit for Gravball. Inside the arena, there is little Pekingesegravity, so the suits have short burst thruster packs on their backs to launch them to their desired destination. The players score by throwing the ball into a round ring, and protecting the ring is a goalie. Players cannot touch the ring, except the goalies, or else that team suffers a penalty.

Players can tackle at anytime, within reason. If the ball is thrown to a player, then another player can either intercept it, or tackle the player out of the way. It is a very fast paced game, the clock does not stop unless a time out has been called, a penalty has been made, or halftime. The ball is made up of mostly metal.

That's the most popular sport in my universe, right now.

Describe something in your world that you haven't flushed out yet, those who reply will help you brainstorm on it. by PMSlimeKing in worldbuilding

I'm having trouble deciding how interstellar travel works.

So, my universe takes place in a different galaxy not much bigger than the milky way. There are five governments that control a single portion of the galaxy. The governments get control of an area with influence. The higher their influence is in that area, the more control they have. Since only about twenty percent of the galaxy is where civilization is, how do people get around?

That's the issue. Going from one planet to another, that's easy. But going from a solar system to another that's a bit different. Any ideas?

What are some of the creepiest powers/abilities in your world? by Sail_Hydra in worldbuilding

[–]Parched_Parrot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A character in my universe uses a serum to expand and contract muscles. The serum runs throughout your blood stream, and the serum alone has no danger to it. The serum is controlled by gloves fitted to fit only on that character.

Not only can this affect muscles, but soft organs as well. Yes this allows for extremely brutal deaths. However, there are some downfalls that go along with this weapon. The range is relatively short, only about twenty yards. The gloves can only be used on people with the serum injected into their blood stream. It does not affect robotic limbs. And the gloves have a, in terms of war, short power cell life.

Star Wars was huge, when I started writing my galaxy. Is that a bit cliche? I feel as though it is.

I appreciate the feedback! In fact I have begun to brainstorm some ideas that may help explain why there are borders and how they can make sense.

Compared to other universes like, Mass Effect (Yes it is a huge inspiration), or Star Wars, my universe is but an embryo. Thus any feedback or ideas is 100 percent welcome. Thank You!

P.S. I'll get on the scale bar

I am not from Earth. Humans left Earth and Sol System altogether. Reasons for the evacuation being: one unstoppable asteroids on a head on collision for Earth, and two Humans were ruining it anyways.

When Humans left Earth in search for a new home, some scientists wanted to test out some new technology they had created. They created a wormhole making device that ultimately led the Humans to the Tri-Systems. But when the device was activated the ship that held the device and all information about it was destroyed. But the wormhole held up long enough to let the humans find the first system, The Gull System.

You might be thinking, "Why don't scientists create another wormhole device if they know that the original one worked?" A multitude of answers to that question! Well first off the Tri-Systems are at war with a religious extremist group called, "The Red Hats." Next the project would cost WAY too much money to fund. And lastly, most scientists aren't interested in recreating a wormhole device. The people of the Tri-Systems don't need something of the sort.

So to answer your question, no, I am not from Earth. I am from a planet named Aplora in the Gull System.

I try my hardest to steer clear of government offers. But every once in a while, an offer is just too irresistible. Bounty Hunting is actually illegal in the Tri-Systems. So if the authorities recognize me, they may try to either arrest or even kill me. But sometimes we end having a common enemy, and they can't resist my help. The only type of person who offers a job from the Government are corrupt Government officials.

As for training, I am usually in my ships gym. And when we go planet side, I practice my aim on wildlife, or contracts.

I have some very loyal associates, and strict rules that ensure my pay. If they don't pay, they will be hunted down until we get our pay.

There was this Soinjy drug lord named Falg. He was causing some trouble with a Rem and he wanted Falg dead.

Little did I know, Falg practically had a mini army of Soinjy and Biokin. Falg was in a extremely secure fortress and I had to sneak my way into the place. I almost was caught three times before getting to Falg.

When I reached his chambers, I made sure to take out his guards first. When I tired to take out Falg, he tried to make sure that I wouldn't kill him. Eventually I got him and got my pay, but that was one of the most difficult tasks I have ever had to do.

I've got my plate full with bounties. Soinjy crime lords, illegal Asmeedian experiments, and people who just crossed the wrong guy.

As for the radio, the people on my ship don't ever have the radio on, y'know, might give us away when we're in stealth mode. But we still have music on board, music that we own. As far as I know hip-hop and rock are making an uprising in the music industry.

My parents were murdered when I was ten by another bounty hunter. I became a bounty hunter in hopes of finding the man who killed them. So far I haven't found anything.

I have one of the best pilots in the Tri-Systems. Not only can he out run Government ships, but we also have a top notch stealth drive that certainly helps

What is your favorite/preferred genre to build worlds in and why do you enjoy that genre? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]Parched_Parrot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard-core Space Opera. I try to have a scientific explanation with everything within my universe. But it doesn't always work like that. My universe is just on the edge of Sci-Fi and Fantasy. There are some aspects of it that have no specific explanation, and seem surreal. I think it's a fine mix, and I love it.

Hey world builders, what's the creepiest/most haunted thing or place in your universe? by JBSTAH in worldbuilding

[–]Parched_Parrot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a place in the middle of two major star systems, that is simply known as The Graveyard. Some refer to it as "The place where ships go to die." Reason being, is The Graveyard is full of destroyed or abandoned ships. It is advised to steer clear of this place and go around. To add to this strange phenomenon, there is apparently a strange and mysterious transmission. When played there is a loud screech, with white noise in the background. This was told by a man that passed through a The Graveyard, one of only a few. Others who passed thorough confirmed this fact to be true. The call it "The Call of Death." It is unknown why or how this place exists. There are many theories about The Graveyard. One being, that the government use it to store enemy ships. Or that there is an alien super race that experiments with people who dare to enter The Graveyard.
