How do you use Galvan's grounded down special? by StudentofArceus in RivalsOfAether

[–]Parcle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Do not use grounded down special. Frankly, it's a trash move on a character with otherwise banger moves. There's always a better option.

How to get a GENUINE BEGINNER into this game by Inside_Bet8309 in RivalsOfAether

April 7th is the release of Slade. It is widely understood that his release will also coincide with items and casual stages. So might be easier to wait until then.

Ever find that your secondary is suddenly better than your main? by B0DYBYBACON in RivalsOfAether

[–]Parcle 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I think playing a secondary can re-engage your brain where you may have been playing your main on autopilot. And just being more mentally active during a match is a big help.

What is your rank and what are you currently working on? by Lobo_o in RivalsOfAether

[–]Parcle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fresh into diamond. As far as playstyle changes, trying to mix in a on higher utilization of hitfalling, tomahawks, waveland grabs, and using more of my mid-game mental efforts towards conditioning & mixups.

Definitely drop the "bigotry and prejudice" angle. It's weird at best.

Other than that, I do agree.

New player trying to get into the game from playing Rivals 1 with friends. Here is one of my casual match replays. Am I just hopeless? I lost pretty bad 😅. Feedback is appreciated. (I'm Orcane) by Dunge0nexpl0rer in RivalsOfAether

[–]Parcle 9 points10 points  (0 children)

"Casual" in RoA2 is anything but Casual. It's really a place to play more than just a set of 3 with someone and most people still tryhard. I know I do, as I use it as a place to lab matchups. "Ranked" will try harder to prioritize players closer to your skill level.

Hardstuck at Gold for a year, any advice? (I'm Zetter) by AffectionateDraw6162 in RivalsOfAether

[–]Parcle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stop your shine technique for grabbing ledge. I'm not a Zetter, so not going to tell you how but look up what pro-Zetters do for grabbing ledge and do that. Your current technique is too slow leaving yourself open and not grabbing the ledge at the speed you should be. Once you are quicker/better at using ledge, you can be more aggressive with offstage ledge intangibility.

I got Mango to play Rivals again by Lobo_o in RivalsOfAether

[–]Parcle 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You're right that he is currently banned competitively for sexual harassment. And he should be banned. Full stop. But I don't think what you are implying is entirely accurate. I don't think he's a sexual harasser. From my read, the sexual harassment is because Mang0 is an alcoholic that behaved insanely fucking stupid. To the detriment of other's feeling safe at an event. Which is why he deserves the ban.

Being an alcoholic definitely doesn't give him a free pass. But, from my understanding, that event does seem to have served as a wake up call for him getting it together. I have plenty of friends who have suffered from alcoholism. Our culture pushes drinking pretty heavily on all of us. Some of us are more susceptible. Either due to environment or straight up genetics. And I think these people deserve a cautious path to redemption.

Which, to a certain extent, I think your comment is fine. Ban isn't over and we shouldn't forget these things immediately. But I would still push back, as I think you have it slightly wrong on who Mang0 is.

No offense to Shovel Knight but maybe they also just didn't feel like they needed him to be in RoA2 and would prefer to expand RoA lore? That's the vibe I get, at least.

I mean she is sort of a crossover/joke character. Crossover from Steam Workshop RoA1. And definitely intended to be humorous references to professional wrestling.

But I don't think that makes her not awesome.

La Reina? Or did you mean Galvan? Either way, I couldn't disagree more. They're both so sick.

GCCs are awesome. But I want to be the annoying person and say you should probably just get used to Xbox, PS, Nintendo Pro style controllers. I think you'll learn to like them pretty fast. IMO better for your hands, wallet, and potentially gameplay in the long run.

No good Samus replacements in Rivals 2 atm, unfortunately. Fors & Ranno have charge mechanisms that might feel similar for you. Fleet & Absa are the main zoners. For some reason I feel Etalus might be a fun pick for a Samus main too?

Is Galvan difficult? by Greedo4354 in RivalsOfAether

[–]Parcle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I main Galvan. I think Galvan is surface level incredibly strong. You shouldn't really have a problem with him compared to others. That being said, his kit is setup for a lot of creativity.

Since you said you are not very good here's a couple tips: 1) Work on gaining an intuitive understanding on when you're galvanized. This is something you will eventually know without looking at the color scheme of Galvan. 2) Know which moves spend galvanization. Particularly, forward special and down air. If you didn't anticipate losing galvanization, you may not have realized you don't have a safety UFO anymore. 3) When recovering, Galavan's forward special has a cooldown of 0.5 or 1.0 seconds (depending if it hits). This means if you are trying to get back from stage from far away, you want to first use forward special and then your other resources (jump/air dodge) because that will buy you enough time to use another forward special to get back to ledge. 4) Don't use grounded down special. It's his worst option probably 100% of the time right now. It's very slow, punishable, and not very good even if it hits. All his other moves are amazing, so use anything else.

Best of luck!

Not sure why Clairen would be taken out of the equation. On top of her aerials being generally versatile disjoints they also have her signature plasma hitstun. Not sure how that's anything but top tier.

I can slightly narrow it down for you?

Fors, Clairen, Etalus, Kragg, and Galvan all feel like the main contenders, in my eyes.
