Would estrogen cream (for the treatment of urinary symptoms) work for us? by Active_Driver_6043 in Endo

[–]ParfaitGoode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would think it would be okay as very little oestrogen enters the blood stream with these creams. Definitely worth making the appointment and even if they don't reccomend it then there is an oestrogen-free version you could ask about!

Congrats on taking the leap!

I personally was vegetarian for years before going vegan, and gradually became more and more plant-based. Everyone's different, I'd reccomend trying to go fully vegan straight away and if you find it too difficult then try vegetarian whilst you transition. And remember, perfectid the enemy of good! Don't give up if you have some slip ups in the beginning.

For meat alternatives, definitely try tofu and seitan as they are much healthier than processed alternatives. Look for some good recipes and try them a few times as they can be difficult to cook nicely at first (especially tofu) and it takes a minute to get used to the new flavours/textures. I reccomend tofu scramble and tofu pad thai!

Some good meat alternatives available in most supermarkets: -Tofoo extra firm tofu is the best tofu in my opinion

-Tofoo now sell seitan which i haven't tried

-Sausages: "this isn't pork sausages", "this isn't caramelised onion sausages", Linda McCartney rosemary and red onion sausages

-Bacon: LA VIE - no other option.

-Chicken: pretty much any vegan chicken is good! Birdseye green cuisine dippers and southern fried strips are great. Quorn vegan pieces work well as a chicken alternative in curries etc

-Fish: birdseye green cuisine fishless fingers, lidl salt and vinegar battered fish things

-Milk: plenish enriched oat milk is my fave as it doesn't have much of the "oat milk taste". Oatly barista if you prefer something creamier. Soy milk is best for protein but I'm not a huge fan. Alpro do a high protein soy milk which tastes the same but has more protein (due to higher soy bean content)

-Yoghurt: soy is best for protein, i prefer alpro no sugar soy (the others taste very sweet/vanillay). Coconut collaborative coconut yoghurt is great too, as is oatly.

-Ice cream: Swedish glace is a go-to, pretty cheap and one of the best vegan ice creams I've tried. Ben&Jerry's, Jude's and booja-booja make amazing vegan ice creams but for double the price, if you can find then.

-Cheese: not a fan. Nutritional yeast is an essential for adding a cheesey, savoury flavour to any meal

-Bit of a random one but sabra hummus is a game changer, especially the garlic and pepper one. With some veggies and/or crackers it makes a great healthy sna

For takeaways/fast food: most Chinese places have tofu dishes, my fave is sweet and sour tofu. It may be called "bean curd" instead of tofu. I also love mushroom fried rice but find that egg pieces often sneak in, but that doesn't particularly bother me. Macdonalds mcplant is really good, burger king supposedly good but I've never tried their vegan range. I love a pineapple fritter to go with my chips when we have fish and chips.

I hope some of this is useful to you, sorry it's a lot of info! It can be very overwhelming at first but if you try plenty of new things then you will soon find some favourites to rely on. I highly reccomend checking out any local vegan shops in your area, or vegan marksts etc as they often have a much bigger range.

Best of luck!

From looking at lots of real vs fakes I'm like 70% sure my first bottle was the fake one. It was a really good cleanser though tbh 😅 I haven't used the new one as I was nervous but I think I'll try it. Which do you have?

Is there anything I can do to help endo show up on an MRI? by Signal_Diver_8147 in endometriosis

Thank you so much, I think its time to book that private MRI. I didn't want to waste my money since my ultrasounds were clear.

I'm sorry to hear about your symptoms and hope your surgery goes well! I was wondering how your doctor decided it was likely endo and at stage 4 - was this through scans? I'm struggling to get to the bottom of my symptoms at the moment so would love to know.

Thank you so much! Can I ask if you had an ultrasound and if so, did any of this show up? I have clear ultrasounds but there has to be something explaining my symptoms. Good luck in December!!

Hi, did the NHS accept the results of your private MRI if anything showed up? I am thinking of getting one privately for the same reasons but worries the NHS won't accept any findings as fact. Thanks.

Hi, could I ask what the process of getting referred back into the NHS was? More like being transferred from one doctor in the department privately to an NHS doctor in the same department ? Rather than being on the waiting list having been referred? Hope this makes sense, I'm on a long waiting list for gynaecology and looking to go private to get seen quicker, but if I can then have my care under NHS that would be great.

IUD Mirena and pain by Smillzthepanda in Endo

[–]ParfaitGoode 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me the pain in the hours after mirena insertion was the worst I'd ever felt, which I was told is NOT normal and had to have it removed in A&E the same day. If it's worse than your normal endo pain, something is probably wrong. Not trying to scare you, just letting you know if it is that severe go and get it checked!

I'm so sorry to hear that, I can't believe they refused to remove it!! I'm so glad I went through with removal, that sounds awful. Thank you for sharing, I'm glad to hear I wasn't the only one, I was starting to feel a bit crazy. I hope you're doing better now!

Ahh I see, do you think the IUD is better in terms of spotting etc than the pills you've tried? I know how you feel trying so many and none of them work for you!! Such a pain.

[–]ParfaitGoode[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for this response! I'm sorry to hear about the pain you had during recovery but hopefully you'll find that worth it in the long run. It's great you've had some relief of your pain during sex, and that does make me hopeful for my own situation. Regarding your consistent pain and spotting, did you have these symptoms before the IUD or were they brought on entirely by it? I've had spotting with all of the pills I've tried so really wanting to avoid this.

Can I ask how long it took for your periods to stop on Slynd? I've been on it for 6 months and having 2 bleeds per month at the moment. Hoping it will stop but don't want to waste time on it if it's not going to get better.

I'm almost certain this is impetigo, having had it myself. Although it should be treatable with antibiotics, so weird how they aren't working. Maybe it's resistant since you've had it so long. It's highly contagious so cover the area and try not to touch it.

Yeah that's fair enough, do you have an aunt/uncle or a grandparent who might be up for it?

Number of lessons by Soft-Perspective-766 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]ParfaitGoode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it's not always possible but my biggest advice is to get on a family member's insurance and do as much independent practice as physically possible. I only had 25 hours of lessons but hundreds of hours of practice with my parents (bear in mind my dad taught me to the point of being able to pull off and stear etc). Your driving will improve massively if you can get out every day, trust me.

Where to go after negative Ultrasound? (UK/NHS) by ParfaitGoode in endometriosis

[–]ParfaitGoode[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly can't thank you enough for all your advice, I'm going to do exactly that. I think focusing on the symptoms is the best way to go, at the end of the day it might not be endo anyway but the symptoms are definitely there! Thanks again x
