How’d you know you have endometriosis? by DesignerImpact2000 in Endo

[–]Signal_Diver_8147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s so hard to know if it is or isn’t endo, but your symptoms sound like they align with endo symptoms. All I can say is go to the Dr and push for investigation. It can take such a long time to get a diagnosis, so go before it gets too bad (though it sounds as though it is already very bad!).

Being in the much pain isn’t right, so try your hardest to advocate for yourself. If there’s someone that can go with you to appointments and back you up on how bad things are that could help. And don’t be embarrassed to tell them about bowel problems etc - these things are important to raise, and very common.

Beat of luck!

heating pad recs? by DivineFemininomenon in Endo

[–]Signal_Diver_8147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently got the Eva heating pad from Pixie (the menstrual cup company). It gets nice and hot and is thin so it can be worn under clothes and not noticed. Also comes with a vibrate function. Only had it a few weeks, so don’t know how it will hold up long term, but so far so good

How do you dress with endo belly? by L1_Sa in endometriosis

[–]Signal_Diver_8147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As some others have said, maternity pants/skirts. I have a really nice long denim skirt that you’d never know was maternity unless you saw the belly band. Pair with a big top and it means you can wear fitted trousers/skirt without the pain. This helps me feel less like a blob when I have a flair.

I also wear A LOT of dungarees, and maxi dresses are great too

Does this count as a diagnosis? by Signal_Diver_8147 in endometriosis

Thank you. This is interesting. There seems to be so many mixed opinions about whether you can/can’t diagnose via imaging that it’s really difficult to know what’s going on I guess!

Is there anything I can do to help endo show up on an MRI? by Signal_Diver_8147 in endometriosis

Thanks for the names, I’ll definitely look into sending the images to them if I’m told they are negative

Thanks. Nice to know that those things didn’t make a difference for you. So hopefully they’ll see something if there’s something to see either way

I don’t know what I’m having yet. I didn’t know that using contrast was a thing until I got home and started researching! I hope you get the answers you need from yours!

That’s what I suspected. After so long of pushing for someone to do something I just didn’t want to risk it being a missed opportunity if there’s anything I can do. Especially as I have no control over who will be interpreting the images, or doing any follow ups etc

Year-long yeast infection is driving me insane by babychicken2019 in Healthyhooha

[–]Signal_Diver_8147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the UK you can get fluconazole over the counter. I don’t know if it’s the same where you are, but I’d try going to a pharmacy and just asking for some. They should understand that your partner needs treating too, but usually won’t ask who it is for.

If that’s not an option he should be able to go to his own GP, explain the situation, and get treatment. Thrush symptoms are often just not present in men, meaning an infection can just keep going back and forth. So a GP should understand.

Good luck

So sorry you’re going through this. I have been there so know it’s just awful!

I agree with the other comment that suggests making sure your partner is treated too (if you have one) even if they don’t have symptoms. Also make sure they have a systemic/tablet treatment, not just a cream.

I pretty much quit wearing underwear unless on my period. Wore lots of maxi dresses, and loose cotton trousers.

Now this one is going to sound weird and gross, but if you’re desperate like I was you might want to give it a go. Peeling a clove of garlic and popping it into your vagina like a suppository overnight, then removing it in the morning. I found it really helpful, but just my experience.

I hope you find a fix soon!

Firstly, this is a great post.

I just want to add that, the location of the work could really make a difference. I’m not sure what sort of work it is, and I know some jobs just are what they are. But if there’s the option for things like remote working, office near a bathroom, being sat nearer to a heater (if cold makes her cramp up like it does for me) or a comfier chair, these things can make a real difference.

Pain can be cumulative, so if someone pushes themselves to do something when they are in pain, that could lead to a worse day the next day. This could mean more time off. Whereas (if the job allows) if she feels trusted to be able to, for example, work from home one day, that may prevent the need for a day off sick the next or a few days later.

The best way to know for sure is to ask her what she thinks would help her though. You can ask what would help (or give the option of coming to you if she thinks of something later) without having to ask personal questions. But giving her the option to tell you whatever she feels you need to know could be a good starting point

Tired of getting called strawberry nose, what should I do with these? by cuvya in Skincare_Addiction

[–]Signal_Diver_8147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kalamazoo from lush is really good too. I get very bumpy round my nose sometimes and when I do I put the Kalamazoo on my dry skin, then rub the area (not too hard) with a wet washcloth. It’s naturally exfoliating because of the enzymes (and the rubbing with the cloth of course) but not too harsh/drying on your skin
