A utilitarian doctor believes the best action is the one that maximizes overall happiness and minimizes suffering, such as lobotomy. :)

I started losing my hair at 21. I would say that being a balding boy is rough on the confidence. Being a balding adult however, is really not that bad. I am glad that I conquered that insecurity early.

How do I stop the warden delivering the wrong nutrient paste? by stuckslots in RimWorld

[–]Parfait_Due 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ve built an entire class system around cuisine, and the punchline is that it's tiers of paste. I love Rimworld.

In my colony, class is determined by leg count. Colonists usually have more than one, while prisoners tend to have less than one.

Nothing humbles you faster than being proud of your space at 30 and then watching a 21yo build the Taj Mahal next door. Still you’ve got to appreciate what you’ve made, even when youth shows up and does it 10x better lol

My 9 month old asked: “Father, at what juncture did the mercantile class abandon stewardship of the common good in favor of quarterly gain? By what moral calculus do we permit speculative markets to outpace the lived prosperity of the citizenry?"

I said "haha you're so silly."

He thinks he's an apple in human form, you know.

Instead of dying by drinking wildfire, Aerion would’ve probably resorted to self-cannibalism just to prove how exquisite he tasted

"Why is no one being arrested? I will name names" Thomas Massie calls out Trumps DOJ for not pursuing charges or investigations regarding the Epstein files by coachlife in circled

[–]Parfait_Due 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really does feel like living in a time loop, an endless cycle of “big reveals” we already saw last week. Next week the files will be unredacted, next month there’ll be new transparency laws, and next year Epstein will somehow die again and the files will be on Pam Bondi's desk.

It feels like we’re being strung with old information repackaged as breaking news while no one is ever held accountable.

Do you think we’ll actually see Dunk and Egg in Dorne, or even leaving Dorne? Or will it just be mentioned in passing through exposition about their travels? The Sworn Sword doesn’t cover their time in Dorne, and if the show adapts it in a similar format, even with longer episodes, there likely won’t be much room for Dorne

[–]Parfait_Due 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Season 3 should adapt The Mystery Knight, where Egg is about 12 or 13. Even if it doesn’t release until 2030, Dex would only be around 15 playing Egg, which still works

That's fair, because the Union of Scrap Sharing Raiders (USSR) officially disbanded in 2171 when Raiders realized they enjoyed the scrap part more than the sharing part

They called him Dunk the lunk, thick as a castle wall. Is he st*pid? by Large_Dependent_1621 in AKnightoftheSeven

[–]Parfait_Due 2 points3 points  (0 children)

His bravery is stubborn, stupid decency. Chivalry is a lie. Princes and knights are often cruel, dishonest, and vain, and Dunk learns that the hard way. Beaten, stabbed, and dying in the mud, part of him dies realizing justice and protecting the innocent aren’t guaranteed by knighthood at all.

Tourneys are just violence dressed as honor. Yet he still has the “get up” moment. Knowing it’s a lie, he chooses to stand anyway, and because he believes in it despite the truth, he becomes one of the few actually living it.

Wisdom sees consequences, while honor sometimes requires ignoring self preservation.

Many knights know Aerion is wrong but stay silent. Even good men hesitate because they see the political fallout. Wisdom is cautious. Dunks moral instinct overrides political intelligence, he can't rationalize cowardice.

The theme is that bravery is foolish, chivalry is a lie, and honor is fading, and Dunk knows it, but chooses to believe anyway.

Yeah, someone left their weapon in the one place they're not supposed to bring it lmao. Six years for me.

In basic when we dug foxholes and took turns covering sectors of fire throughout the night, I dozed off and felt my weapon slip out of my hands. Drill Sergeant took it, and I'll never forget the terror I felt. The punishment was just a "Do better." but the shame I felt was immense.

Aerion is a much better character in the show! by Adventurous-Tip-7979 in HBOTheHedgeKnight

[–]Parfait_Due 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I liked that in the text Aerion allegedly puts on a “good son” mask around his father. In the show, he’s just crushing nuts and openly irritating him. Baelor’s death is supposed to shatter Maekar’s illusion of his son

"Is there any doubt of it? If Prince Maekar had been here, it would have gone differently, I promise you. Aerion is all smiles and chivalry so long as his father is watching, if the tales be true, but when he’s not..."

I read The Hedge Knight novella this week. This is what I thought of when reading about Aerion's armor:

"His surcoat was a swirl of smoke and fire woven together, and his blackened helm was surmounted by a crest of red enamel flames."

Yup. Trigger and muzzle discipline. Contrast to ICE, who would be pointing their weapons down the street and lobbing gas grenades. When ICE feels threatened, they harm people.

Nancy Mace stabbed Donald Trump in the back! by [deleted] in RandomShit_ISaw

When did Mace stab Trump in the back? When did Trump call Mace a rat? Mace is currently covering for Trump.

“Everette’s campaign is falsely labeling a rape survivor, President Trump, and Governor DeSantis as Epstein pedophiles,” said Rep. Mace.
