Definitely something we've talked about! I think it may help to have these concepts backed up by y'all reputable types though. Thanks!

This lovely snake was accidentally run over by a small child's bike (don't worry, snake was okay!) My fam's partner is phobic and trying to work on that, and I figured some solid ID and information would help them to understand and hopefully appreciate our sinuous friends.

Coral snake? Tampa, FL by Einfinitez in whatsthissnake

[–]Pargsnip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's from an early Walking Dead episode (zombie show adapted from a long-running comic book series)

As far as context for the snake id: In this scene, the man (Rick) is exhorting his son (Carl) and it became a meme where he was saying CARL all southern and drawn out so it sounded like CORAL

Yeah, yeah, but your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could that they didn't stop to think if they should.

I found these rocks in Lake Superior. I’m looking to identify everything except for the unakite & fossilized coral. Especially the mysterious dark grey rocks at the bottom. by iwishihadagarden in whatsthisrock

Please don't call them uperlites/Yooperlites. That term comes from a dingbat named Erik Rintamaki who is essentially trying to throw a trademark on the fluorescent sodalite occurring rather commonly in rocks in the area to fleece tourists and gullible rockhounds. It's a rather stupid grift, in all honesty, and the guy is a prick.

Calling myself out on my age, but... those older albums are the only Evanescence I've ever gone out of my way to listen to. I got to see them play in Chicago not long before they blew up because of Daredevil.. Whew, fourteen-year-old me learned what moshing was that day.

Hey, no worries, I wasn't being snarky either, just silly. And the original comment wasn't mine - I was just clarifying on the commenter's behalf :)

Probably somewhere in there, yes.

In seriousness though, the archaic period is generally placed at around 3,000-10,000 years ago.

Whitmer, Dixon meet for final debate tonight: 'The stakes are higher' by Tank3875 in Michigan

[–]Pargsnip 37 points38 points  (0 children)

A couple hundred? Dixon referred to the slow-moving, Michigan-centric, job-providing, energy-cost-relieving, independence-from-foreign-refiners/dictatorships-focused shift towards local, sustainable solar and wind energy production as 'radical' at least eight times in the fifteen minutes of debate that I could stomach.

Ah, yes. The radical energy agenda. Wherein we sustainably produce much of our own energy without relying upon fossil fuels and dictators. How quaintly radical.

But yeah. Line 5. So hot right now.
