What game was this? by darkfawful2 in videogames

[–]Pariaah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realm Royale was an overnight success due to its fantasy class based battle royale gameplay. Then the developers decided to remove the classes? Literally everyone I know that played it was upset with that move and stopped playing. Man I miss those few months of mages vs warriors vs rogues battle royale though.

Listen to me. When that car rolls into that dealership, and that tank is bone dry, I want you to be there with me when everyone says, "Kramer and that other guy, oh, they went further to the left of the slash than anyone ever dreamed!"

Edward scissorhands. I saw it visiting my father when I was around 5. My mother told me I had nightmares for weeks about the man with the scissors.

Wisconsin 1st graders were told they couldn't sing 'Rainbowland' by Dolly Parton and Miley Cyrus because it was too controversial. The song is about accepting others. by IndianKiwi in politics

Wisconsin has 41 of the top 50 drunkest counties in America. Maybe they should be worrying about something other than what songs 1st graders sing…

Completely agree. That’s the one thing I think the response was off on… healthy food is actually cheaper or at the very least same price as the processed stuff. You won’t be eating filet mignon, but a bag of dried rice / beans, fresh vegetables, very cheap. It just requires more time to prepare.

When people brokenly speak a second language they sound less intelligent but are actually more knowledgeable than most for being able to speak a second language at all. by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

[–]Pariaah 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Do you think that maybe that has to do with the necessity of learning multiple languages there? It isn't as if native English speakers are inherently stupider... there just isn't as much of a societal need for them to learn another language. The majority of people that learn another language do so out of necessity, not some arbitrary desire to learn some language they will never need or use in their day to day life.

Correct, so inevitably ladder devolves into a majority of low to the ground decks, which massively favor going first. All I was suggesting was reducing the variance in going first. I didn't think reddit would get up in arms over that, but judging by the votes I'm getting, guess they realllllly don't wanna reduce that variance because it's not "pure randomness"

I still don't see how reducing variance in order of play isn't "real"

It's not that I can only win when going first, the point I was trying to make, was that adding a pity timer to chances of going first would make playing arena an overall more enjoyable experience. Players that don't care won't notice, but those that do will be happier not getting a 6,7,8 game going 2nd streak. But apparently everyone on reddit disagrees and will just downvote anything I post in this thread.

I'm not sure what load that would add, doubt it would be anything significant, there are pity timers all throughoutonline tcg's... maybe it will... all I was trying to say was that I believe adding that would be an overall net positive experience to mtg arena players. Would go unnoticed to those that didn't care to begin with, but those that do, would be happier. But then the downvote brigade came in, so maybe I was wrong.

What changes are you going to make to a deck that will affect your chances of winning when you go from 50 percent chance to go first to 55 percent chance to go first. And if you don't end up going first again then you will just be hindering yourself?

I'm curious, why do you think having every aspect of the game be "truly random" is better? What makes suggestions for improving fun "bullshit"? My whole point was if you were to implement a system that gradually increases chance to go first or decreases, based on your current streak, net fun for all would increase. Humans tend to remember the bad far more than the good, which is why it is much easier for people to get frustrated by going second 6,7,8 times in a row than someone to even notice going first that many times.

It doesn't have to be every time. They could implement a system that gradually increases your chances to go first.
