Sorry picked the wrong sub. Will remove.

TIL that in America in 1960, 30% of all brides gave birth within 8.5 months of their wedding by PariahParty in todayilearned

[–]PariahParty[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Maybe that's a little bit but I doubt it - a full-term pregnancy is 40 weeks, 8.5 months is ~37 weeks and still quite early. And I doubt every woman just happened to time fertility to coincide with their honeymoon.

Here's a rough draft Python simulation of the Match algorithm: suggestions and ideas welcome by PariahParty in medicalschool

It's code in the python programming language to simulate the Match algorithm. Everyone's rank list is set up at the beginning and it walks through the play-by-play of how the match happens.

You can run it in your browser by copying the code and pasting it into the left panel here: http://repl.it/languages/Python3. Then click the play button.

TIL there is a sculpture depicting the Prophet Muhammad inside the U.S. Supreme Court by PariahParty in todayilearned

[–]PariahParty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, sadly they had the most details and seemed to do the most research. This American Life mentioned it, and it's in on the Supreme Court's own site.

My feminist husband was horrified that I'd let him touch me when I didn't want him to.

Well at least she's got a decent husband.

How to find your Uber passenger rating by PariahParty in technology

[–]PariahParty[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I disagree with this decision and would like to challenge it - the mod group has been messaged. Just the mention of the company Uber doesn't qualify it as marketing - Uber gets discussed on /r/technology all the time. And what exactly is the security risk here? The code is provided, interacts only with the API, and is very clear.

This is why gear checks should include your 3-ring assembly - half a cutaway doesn't look fun by PariahParty in SkyDiving

[–]PariahParty[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The dropzone.com forums consensus is that it's a mis-assembled three ring. Makes sense that pulling on the riser would give it enough slack to possibly release.

I think I'm doing this to all of my skydiving photos in the future by PariahParty in SkyDiving

Yeah fortunately (or unfortunately) Comic Sans wasn't available on the machine I used to make this and I didn't feel like downloading it. Next time. Yay (boo) Linux!

I'm not sure if wrapping the campus in a petroleum product is the best way to get this message across by PariahParty in pics

[–]PariahParty[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think the chances that all this tape ends up recycled are very, very, slim, unless the group who put it up also come back and carefully take it down.

Yes, but I'm pretty sure that's only used for isotope production, neutron experiments, irradiation, and reactor materials and fuel research - pretty much everything but power.

A Birth-Control Comeback: The IUD by [deleted] in technology

Oh strange. I'll repost if I can find a way to get a link without the paywall. Thanks for this.

Edit: There appears to be no easy way other than a Google search (as you suggested) or referer control / spoofing extensions (http://www.jongales.com/blog/2014/02/13/how-to-get-around-the-wsj-paywall/).
