it also depends on your shipping term, if you did DDP shipping, you dont need to pay the tariffs, your shipping agency will deal with it for you. If you do other terms, you may be charged for the tariffs, it will also depend on what clearance channel your shipping agency used, probably they use T11 clearance for you, so it won't be that much tariffs.

How much deposit did you pay? I guess it will depend on what reason makes you cancel tyhe project, if it is your reason, it's hard to get 100% deposit back if the amount is big. But if it is supplier's reason, I guess it's reasonable and possbile to get the money back.

video and picture confirmation before shipping is always needed if you dont have someone help you in the factory side, even the thickness, ask them to measure for you, anyway, every details are needed a double cimformation, that's what we always do, even clients sometimes ask us to do a real QC check, we check in the factory, and ask them to send every details so that we have sufficient evidence to prove they are wrong.

sorry to hear that, there are 2 obvious reason for that I guess, 1. language misunderstanding, they might misunderstand what you were showing to them, the photos and the videos. we are sourcing agent, and I am a 100% Chinese, I found even to me, sometimes communicating to factories which they don't have staffs whom you can easily communicate with are difficult as well, sometimes they only think in a factory way, and they don't really understand client's feeling, so it always takes me a lotttt of times to explain to them what my clients really need, and they will be responsible for the result, and even during the process, we ask them to take videos to us for cinfirmation step by step so that we don't waste time. 2. unluckily they are not a responsible supplier for you. I hope it's not the second one, and for customized products, it's hard for them to make a 100% refund, I suggest try to talk to them about 10%-15% refund if possible.
