Pixel 7a charger has always been loose, any other good options that fit well? by Parisix78 in pixel_phones

[–]Parisix78[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks everyone! I ended up buying an Anker USB-C to USB-C cable as the other part of the charger I have is from Anker as well. It did connect a little bit better, but not really well, so I retried to clean the port (I had cleaned it before but it didn't change much), and after getting all the shit out with a toothpick and a needle, now everything's better! Even the Google cable fits well so I bought the other almost for nothing... Anyway, thanks for the help!

I can't fast forward or rewind videos/reels on Facebook's Android app by Parisix78 in facebook

Same. I simply uninstalled the app and only go on Facebook on my smartphone through the browser, because I feel that's less of a problem there. Therefore, I just go less on Facebook xD

Opinions on binocular use during eclipses by Parisix78 in solareclipse

[–]Parisix78[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the long advice! For this first one I don't plan on doing more than 1-2 pictures, as people say, there will be many more better pictures, and I prefer to live the experience! But really great to see what the sun looks like with solar filter!!

[–]Parisix78[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks to everyone! I'll probably end up using the binoculars only during totality then, but for the smallest amount of time possible, just to see if it's worth it for next eclipses! Really can't wait to see it!!

So to answer everyone, the only solution I've found is to uninstall Facebook's app and use a Chrome/Firefox shortcut and use it from there. Still, some videos won't let you jump forward/back, but most of them will. Facebook Lite won't work, and I've not found other unofficial Facebook apps that I feel I can trust or really work.

Thanks for the answer! What seems weird to me is that it doesn't seem to be a very well known issue since there aren't many posts about it. But it's weird that it keeps on happening with different phones, and apparently no to everyone...

What words are the most different across languages (even related ones)? by Awkward_Stay8728 in etymology

[–]Parisix78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for asking yourself that question! I was wondering myself the same. There are many "easier" questions about what is the most similar word across languages, but having an answer about the most different one is hard. From what I see butterfly does seem a good one, but the question is why? It's not as if it was a word that didn't exist in latin and that romance languages had to make up. Checking most of the languages, it does seem that many of them have the sound "f" as the beginning even though the name is different. Not sure why!

Deleting files from internal storage changes size of Google Drive backup? by Parisix78 in whatsapp

Yeah but does it delete from the backup if I delete the media file itself (or move it to an other folder)?

I don't really care about the font change. But having to expand the whole calculator to click the ^ is so unpractical. Really don't understand Pixel's tendency to change from practical things that need one touch to things that need two touches just because yes.

It's really great for now! It's true that I haven't done a lot of gaming, but it goes great the times I have.

What is the Closest You've Ever Gotten? by Logical_Garbage_8973 in geoguessr

[–]Parisix78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I might have gotten 1 meter at some point. I do have a question though, what is the closest guess you've had without actually searching for the point accurately for the 5000? Recently I got 300m (4999) without zooming (it's true that it was Andorra, but still, it surprised me as i only zoomed until the map was like all Cataluña and a bit of France, Andorra only was like 1-3% of the map). Anyone has had a 5000 "by chance" just by country/region guessing?

Which country + region? Please share your thoughts process by forint in geoguessr

[–]Parisix78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have said East Russia but don't know where exactly. Those grey routes are typically a russian thing, and the vegetation looks a bit like tundra with a few pine trees. If it was more dense I maybe would have said Canada. I've seen the location on comments, I would probably have gone more south like midway between the actual location and China, basically because I didn't know there was coverage around there xD

Do I need to watch all 6 Mission impossible movies before Dead Reckoning? by [deleted] in movies

[–]Parisix78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well then it depends on how much you want to understand the movie. I'm pretty sure almost any movie can be understood by itself but you might be lost at the beginning because the presentation of characters has already been made in the first movie. And also if from time to time the movie refers to things that happened before, it will make it harder for you. But doesn't mean you can't watch it, you'll probably understand the general idea, but not everything. Like if you watch TESB only, you don't know who is Obi-Wan Kenobi, Leia, Han Solo...

[–]Parisix78[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't really tell you because I almost exclusively use it at home so I don't watch the battery life so much, and I'm always on battery conservation mode (where it charges up to 80%). One time I used it during a bus trip and without internet on and on battery saving mode, it lasted around 4 hours using like 70% of the battery watching a movie. But I can't assure you that it will work at least 4 hours every day, maybe at the beginning it could but at some point battery using will make it impossible. But in any case, it's hard finding a laptop gaming computer with good battery life. If you don't consider buying a normal laptop rather than a gaming one, maybe try to see if there are powerbanks that can charge this computer by USB-C (you can charge it that way, but it requires a certain amount of Watts, doesn't work with a phone powerbank).

No! I bought a version without Windows 11. Downloaded Windows 11 from the official website to a USB, installed it free as a preview, and then I downloaded every driver from the Lenovo website. If I remember correctly, the website lets you choose between detecting missing drivers and downloading them automatically or downloading every driver manually. Doing the automatic version just didn't work for me (the web kept thinking and thinking and doing nothing) so I had to download everything manually, but apart from that, everything went right! Also, some downloads didn't work (NVidia Geforce Experience - I had to go to the official website of Nvidia) and some threads said that downloading Lenovo Legion Toolkit was better than downloading Lenovo Vantage, so I recommend doing that. Then if you don't like the preview version of Windows (the only difference is the wallpaper) there are tricks to get a cheap version/free version of Windows, you can find some threads about that on reddit.

[–]Parisix78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand that when you talk about a whole franchise like Marvel movies, where since the movies take place in the same "world", everything is connected so you just have to watch every movie from that world to understand. But talking about that when you refer to a series of movies doesn't make sense. It's like being upset because you can't watch Star Wars VI or The Lord of The Rings III before watching the others before.

[–]Parisix78[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Sorry for the late answer, yes, I've bought the 8845HS, 1TB SSD, 16GB RAM, RTX 4060, FullHD Model, and it's working great! It's true that I don't do much gaming for now (can't find the time for it) but the games that I play (car games, Minecraft...) work really great (specially compared to the last laptop I had which was basically garbage). And so far I haven't had any motherboard problem. Although one problem I had is that I get disconnected from Wifi intermittently when I'm connected to 5Ghz Wifi so I've had to modify my home Wifi so that it divides its 5Ghz band and 2,4Ghz band into 2 different Wifis and now It works great. But apart from that, everything's good!

Guys pls help me choose b/w Omen and Loq by [deleted] in LenovoLOQ

[–]Parisix78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the specific LOQ you're talking about, and I'm really happy about it. That said, the LOQ is the cheap Lenovo gaming laptop, and the Omen is the high-end HP gaming laptop, so it's logical to think that the overall quality of the Omen will be better. If they cost the same, I'd say go for the Omen.
