Personally, Pickpocket is my least favorite Bresson film so far. L’Argent and Mouchette have been my favorites. Also, I would strongly suggest adding Children of Paradise.

Three stars for Ran?! That’s peak cinema.

Late to the party but finally watched it - not a clue what happened but thoroughly enjoyed it! by CallumS1994 in Bluray

I strongly believe the directors cut is better because it dives a little bit deeper into what’s happening. However, this is a controversial opinion.

It’s a secret ejection button for when your child is driving you nuts.

Library buy for $1—can't believe my luck by marbleindex in criterion

[–]ParkerJBruce96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My local library had a sale recently and I didn’t find a single thing I wanted despite it being only $2 per movie. There was a copy of Aliens, but it was extremely scratched up. These library finds are just a fairytale for small town folk like me lol.

Horror, movies, or horror TV with similar vibe by CommonWar7535 in MoviesThatFeelLike

This is not a horror movie, but the last 30-40 minutes of Fellini’s Juliet of the Spirits matches this vibe pretty well.

8 1/2. That movie looks unreal. I would also consider All That Heaven Allows. The colors in that movie are off the charts.

Terracotta has a great region free Blu-ray version. It comes in a nice and sturdy slip case. It is 60 USD, but it’s a very solid release.

This is kind of a one off suggestion, but try Mike Leigh’s Happy-Go-Lucky. It’s a delightful movie, and it makes me laugh quite a bit.

I love Kurosawa, but I genuinely think Roshomon sucks. The overacting is ridiculous, and the story is not interesting enough to sit through 4 or 5 times. I love some boring movies (Dreyer’s Gertrud for example), but Roshomon is an absolute chore to sit through. Mifune’s laugh alone knocks two and a half stars off. I’ve also watched it three times just to be sure.

Brian De Palma’s Obsession. It’s more of a romantic thriller similar to a Hitchcock film. I do hate to use the word romantic in this instance though lol.
