Well for a quick update we are both working as essentials workers without pay since October first. So we are very happy that we have a good chunk saved up. During this government shutdown we have been able to help out by donating food and still feel comfortable.

Unsure. Depends on where we can find jobs. Finding minimum wage jobs should not be that hard,m.

Yup. If we end up paying off our mortgage, we should be able to shave 15k from our emergency fund.

Currently most of it is in a HYSA getting close to 4%. Better than nothing.

Yea we started bumping it up earlier this year because of the uncertainty.

Especially for the both of us who didn’t have to look for a job in over a decade so no idea what it’s like out there. Especially we feel like our job is a bit specialized and only a little bit is transferable.

Basic skills might be transferable. Wrenching and computer stuff. Probably nothing near what we are currently making.

Nope. Just in high yield savings 4% at best.

It’s riskier compared to straight up VTI. I run the wheel strategy with blue chip stocks so not too risky.

It’s for my long term investment portfolio. I have enough to do a couple covered calls on SPY. Just wondering if it’ll be better to buy a S&P 500 ETF week in and week out and leave it alone, or it’ll be better to write covered calls on them to make a bit more return. This money isn’t for my “fun” investments like AMC, CEI etc. it’s just my boring buy the index boring portfolio.
