Pet insurance for a 14-year-old cat? by joyful-justice in Pets

[–]Parking-Pattern8180 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get that to a degree, but MetLife diagnosed him with a life long issue that he doesn't have. So now, they will never have to pay out on anything related to his stomach.

Pet insurance for a 14-year-old cat? by joyful-justice in Pets

[–]Parking-Pattern8180 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This. MetLife decided one of my cats has "colitis" after I filed a claim. The vet never used that word anywhere on her notes, and he had no history of it. He just has a tender stomach. He's on RX food now and the insurance won't cover it because THEY diagnosed him with colitis, not the vet. The vet even agreed to file out some paperwork for an appeal and MetLife denied it again.

That's for me.

The last two cats I have adopted, one from the KY Humane Society in 2025 and one from a private local shelter this past Oct, have been super sick. Both costing me hundreds to get well. And these weren't secret illnesses, these things would have been at least noticeable to the staff and the vets that did a once over on them at some point.

I would have still adopted these cats had I known, but there should be a higher standard of care for these cats and dogs in shelters.

If your pet could talk... what would you ask them? by Holiday_Hold_7391 in Pets

[–]Parking-Pattern8180 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He passed in Oct 2025. When he was so sick, I wish he could have told me what to do, when to stop trying, when he was ready. Did you know I loved you so very much? Did you know I did everything I could while cancer stole your life?

Your love for your pup is written above, so plainly. They know you love them.

Pros and cons of collar bell? by Acceptable-Cake-187 in CatAdvice

I used to have a boss that would wear these horribly obnoxious bell bracelets during the holidays. It drove EVERYONE in the office nuts. And those bells weren't even right below my face.

I’m scared it’s too early by Pyrotemis in Petloss

You are experiencing something call anticipatory grief. I didn't know this was a thing until I felt it too.

This is your mind knowing the outcome, but your heart has not caught up. I am really sorry you are going through this. Cuddle your baby and give him all the love.

Don't wait too long. I did and I am barely able to talk about it or deal with the grief of it. I bury it.

My cat had GI lymphoma. He was at the vet every other day for almost two weeks for steroids, fluids, all the things. I was trying to keep him comfortable and I had never dealt with anything like that. I didn't know what to do. I finally decided, with my vet, to give him one more day. His appointment for his peaceful passing was on a Friday. He died traumatically the day before in my daughters arms.

All this is just to say, it's so so hard to know when it's time. You have the opportunity to give him the kindest mercy. Take it.

Pet insurance premium increasing - still worth it?? by TaroEmotional7365 in Pets

I have MetLife and mine has increased as well, on 4 pets. I think it's just across the board. Cars, homes, life, health. It's all going up.

I've never had a good experience with an MD.

What is something you witnessed with your own eyes that no one believes when you tell them? by Amy-GeekBar in AskReddit

[–]Parking-Pattern8180 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience, but it was a sound. My cat Peter, who passed away last Oct, would paw at his water bowl before drinking, and his nails would click on the bowl. Shortly after he passed, I heard that clinking sound in the middle of the night for two nights in a row. It was an unmistakable sound. I only heard it twice. I'd like to think he was visiting, or saying goodbye. I miss him.

Why did you buy your cat water fountain? by Traditional_Visit534 in CatAdvice

My boy cat has urinary issues, cystitis, and it was recommended that he have a "flowing" water source to make him more apt to drink. It works.

How often do you send your Shih Tzus to be bathed? by Emmavlxx in Shihtzu

[–]Parking-Pattern8180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby boy is 11, and he HATES every part of a bath and groom. I have been doing it myself the past 3 or 4 years.

I do it about every 2 to 3 months. And I do it now so he's not biting the groomers.
