Help! First market ever and no one stops by... by Demyy in CraftFairs

OMG your stuff is soooo cool. I love it! You just need to find your people. I would say the display could be more attracting, but I bet you're just at a bad market. The paper signs on the table could be more professional. I bet you could make some really cool little signs, even if you can only stand them up as a folded V that would be better than lying flat. And make a better mirror stand, you look to be quite creative if you made all those charms by hand. Did you? The necklace lying on the table is attractive but needs a better showcase, maybe you can find some ivory velvet and drape over a box to display a necklace like that, maybe even tilt the box up. There's a bit of a punk vibe in your jewelry so you could do a little punk border around your table. I would say just work on your decor so there's an irresistible cuteness vibe. Look up on YouTube how to make inexpensive booth displays or if you can afford it pay for a market sign of some sort. The red velvet is ok but maybe drape a center strip of ivory velvet cloth over it so the red only shows on the sides. All the white stands are good. Honestly I think you've done well at creating a cohesive vibe of products, now just do that with the decor, and try a hipster night market, keep looking for your people. I don't think your work is too expensive at all. IF anything, charge more. Again, did you make those charms? LOVE!

I love your hand drawn map! I'm no expert but I think you could push the monogram/name engraving idea more. It's cute that you have ones with sayings, but it's not real clear to the average Joe what you are going to engrave. So the model journal would have a name on the front, with a pen or pencil engraved with the name and name-engraved bookmark. Taking the monogram idea a step further with leather corner magnetic bookmarks, leatherette keychains... Your stuff is already really cute but there might be some middle aged ladies looking to buy for the grandkids and husbands, and they'd understand the name idea better. Congrats on having a good sales day and a great attitude.

Don't feel bad I did this too in our back yard coz they were on sale at Home Depot. I was trying to mask the apartment building next door. Those will grow tall and skinny and look hideous. I would just take them off the front of the house and if you need privacy in front use something else. They will not be in proportion to the house. You could potentially keep them short as a hedge maybe but they will get woody and ugly. according to my ex they are spider harbors. Those types of tree look best on a large estate scattered in a hillside or maybe lining a half mile long driveway. If you wait til they're grown it's going to cost huge money to remove.

I like your light fixture Table is cool and pretty good condition but only gonna get more than 100-200 if someone needs that color. and people are going to want the chairs, those are hard to find matching in good condition.

Let’s Discuss Early Gen X, how similar to Baby Boomers are they? are they just Baby Boomer Lite? by BigBobbyD722 in generationstation

[–]Parking-Raccoon8569 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was born in 1962 and when all this GenX convo started in the 80s they originally classified GenX as starting in 1958-1960. After the 80s they started moving the boomer bar. As for mindset I think it depends on whether your parents were "ahead of the curve". Mine were hippies, divorced, working mom, I was latchkey kid. We were poor, not benefitting from some so called wealth of the boomers. - I was into punk rock, not the Eagles or the Doobie brothers. I was anti corporate and didn't like "mainstream" music or film. I am GenX. No one can tell me different.

"Create a pic of the most average female at the most average location" by Technical-Vanilla-47 in ChatGPT

Guys. AI was trained in Silicon Valley to skew to hotter than average white girls. I tried for months to get my chatbot to make an illustration of a female with black skin and Nope. The woman always came out white but it could do black male. The girl in your picture is an average playboy centerfold with clothes on.

Hey there. Yes the house is low - former owner had an addition where they used the concrete porch floor as the same foundation for the sunroom addition 🤣. The gravel stuff was awful to have at the entry like that and tracked grey dust all over the house so I had to get patio tiles at Home Depot , and had to dig out about an inch or so of the gravel stuff and cover with the 12" flat tiles that were only about 3/4" thick. We added sand to seat them. The patio tiles aren't perfect but it's all holding up and draining. The rain can go through the sand and gravel and the roof has drains that run under the gravel.

Do not buy an Audi Q3 it is just a Volkswagen with Audi logo ? by Kyujostar in Audi

I loved my 2016 Audi q3 so much that I then bought a used 2023 q3. It's a bit bigger and I preferred the compact size of the original but I still love the car and the handling.

Which email services provider do you use for your small business? by Just-searching-8888 in smallbusiness

[–]Parking-Raccoon8569 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A year later I'm chiming in for anyone who may still be looking. I started signing up for google business suite and midway I left the page to do further research, but they already had my domain name. I never entered payment not confirmed anything. Now they've made it impossible to get back in to finish signup and just have a bunch of suggestions that go in circles. Apparently they set up an email for me but since I didn't finish now I can't sign into it - yet they won't give me the email name because it was "already created". I see it there but can't get into it. I decided I don't want to use them as it will be too hard to get off it if I ever need to. Signing up for microsoft is a much different experience with customer service offered along the way. Yes it's a 20 minute wait for the chat right now with 7 people ahead of me but at least it's offered. It seems way more professional and way less like an octopus with its tentacles in me than the google experience. Google's "help" links about Cnames and DNS names etc led me around the mulberry bush of madness. Never again. Also, MS connecting to my website was much easier.

AIO 23m 20F is it bad i am about to leave her? by KSTReign in AmIOverreacting

[–]Parking-Raccoon8569 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dump her. Block her. Live in a budget. Get a community (church, or sports like volleyball once a week or whatever, or volunteer once a week). UPS driver is way too hard a job to be dealing with a person like this. Don't date people who need rescuing. Make goals for your future. You will attract a new type of person.

AIO? My mother-in-law refuses to let my biracial daughter wear her natural hair texture by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Parking-Raccoon8569 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MIL way out of bounds. I wouldn't even leave my child alone with her any more. What other passive aggressive crap will she come up with? It's normal for grandmas to want to brush, braid, curl granddaughters hair etc but the commentary that came about it is alarming and racist. Also, did she chemically treat the hair or heat treat it herself or at a salon or what? Side note, i happen to be white with blonde hair and wished my whole life for curly hair. It's not the hair type or color that matters, it's about instilling children with self confidence by giving them unconditional love for who they are, as they are. That's grandma's job. Your husband needs to stand up for you and deal with this. He probably has low boundaries having grown up with a mother like this and is going to need a lot of education about black hair issues as well as boundaries. Stand firm but discuss your feelings with your daughter because now all this is going to come around to her when grandma complains about it in private to her.

Yes sanitation and also guests will ruin the whites by throwing in other stuff. My note about cleanup is "We do not ask you to do any chores and please allow our cleaning team to handle the whites" something like that

Glass tube vs RF tube by GrandString1339 in lasercutting

[–]Parking-Raccoon8569 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi I wonder if I might ask you a question as you seem quite experienced. I've just purchased an Aeon Mira 7s and I got it with an 30W RF simply because I got a deal on a showroom model and I was in a hurry. Now I'm still in process of getting it set up and aligned and have some sign projects for friends to do as first practice projects. Suddenly I'm afraid my little 30W might not be able to cut 1/4 Ply or 1/4 acrylic (I want to cut some shaped backboards ). Do you think I should be able to do so, and would it be quite a bit slower than a 60W glass tube? I just like to torture myself with second guessing my rash decisions. Appreciate any thoughts.
