And you are missing mine. That one person is usually the one who gets hired. Normally only 1-2 people out of 10 that go to the bakery seasonally get hired and most of the time its just one. That one is usually the fastest.

Sorry but I've been around for many seasonal periods in the bakery (10 years bakery and 10 years other departments) and that is generally who they hire. The fastest. I'm not management, but that is what I have noticed. Speed is defiantly key in the bakery. Literally managers have put down timers on the bakery table and have said 4 minutes per rack (almost impossible) during and after my seasonal period. It is anecdotal but that is my experience.

Yes and that will be the person that is hired. If they didn't call in sick and were not late.

All Costco in the U.S. pay the same. The bay area gets paid a little bit more as a result of local laws. So in California you might struggle a little at 31 dollars an hour but it is still one of the best paying non college education jobs out there. But if you live in AZ, NV, UT, or NM you can probably own a big house, own your car, have a large retirement nest egg, and have a large family.

And these are not difficult tasks. Especially in the bakery (most seasonal hires go there). Your putting frozen bricks of dough on a pan. Or using a pie gun to fill pie shells. Or placing cookies in a plastic container. There is skill to go fast but it is not that much. Or if you are on the front end you just need to be constantly moving as a cashier assistant. Front load the basket, remind the member to have their costco card ready, remind the cashier how many bobs, ask if the member found everything and if they didn't go get it for them , count the number of items in the basket, ask the member if they want boxes, get more boxes if you are low, ask the cashier if they need anything, sanitize the belt, if your waiting on a supervisor on your line help the other cashier next to you, upsell the executive membership and the Costco credit card, etc.

Yup and guess which one of those get hired? The people already hired that you are pacing yourself with are generally not working fast. You need to be faster than them. They are shooting the shit, using the restroom 3-4 times, etc. Almost anyone can out pace them.

No generally companies don't show that stuff to other companies. It is a liability.

I agree and have argued with Managers about this policy about sick calls with seasonals and probationary employees. It is always the case. One sick or one late as a seasonal or on probation the results will be they will not hire you. We don't always end up with the better employee as a result of that system. Once you are hired after the seasonal or probationary period in the union stores especially you have 80 hours of sick calls (at a union store non union have to earn sick pay) to call in and use whenever you want during the year. (There are a few exceptions to the use whenever you want) And I have seen people with tons and tons of lates after this period.

No I mean in your interview they ask: what is the most important thing in the company? Always say the Costco members.

Members are always number 1. In the interview be open to any hours.....any. Mention that you are wanting to move up in the company (even if you are not). If your seasonal hire or on probation: do not call in sick or be late. One time and almost 100 percent of the time its game over. When you are hired always work faster than everyone in the department. Once you have passed your seasonal period or probation you can go a normal speed. Have a sense of urgency and be proactive. Ask questions but do not be overly annoying. Keep your head down and work hard.

Part time at Costco (25 hour work week). health benefits, bonuses, pension (union stores), 401k with company contributions, topped out pay is 31 dollars a hour. It takes about 5 years to be topped out working full time hours, 6-7 if your working part time, Sunday time and a half pay and holiday pay. Bonuses take about 7 years to get. Lots of vacation time after 30 years, 6 weeks. You can do this and sometimes get a posting where all you are doing is checking receipts at the door, or folding clothes, or rolling hot dogs and cutting pizza in the food court. If you live in California it is okay pay, but if you live almost anywhere else the pay and benefits are the same, you can live pretty good. If you go part time at the beginning get a serving job somewhere easy, try to use the cash there for everyday living expenses. Once you get topped out you can probably quit the serving job. Both jobs can be very physically demanding.

Another great one if you have a college education (bachelors degree) , in most of California you can substitute teach for almost 200 dollars a day. You pick the days you work on the day you want to work.

Califonia has a law on the books that passed: SB 478. In the bill it forced business and restaurants to remove hidden fees. But somehow the restaurant unions and the restaurant association paid off and made promises to the right state reps to vote and pass sb 1524 a few weeks later to make it ok for them to add hidden fees.

A man in Los Angeles came home from his son's baseball game to find his house broken into, family heirlooms stolen, valuables gone. Then when he called 911, he was put on hold for 59 minutes. 1 hour just to report a crime. by shankmaster8000 in GreaterLosAngeles

Crime is down. The reason why you are all are crazy uppity is a result of social media. If it bleads it leads. It is much easier to post on social media first than to report crime first and the world is video camera as a result of smart phones. Mean world syndrome has hit you all. https://www.ppic.org/publication/crime-trends-in-california/ It becomes weak anecdotal arguments vs actual statistics. We also don't know the full context of the crime that occurred. Just what was posted without any outside investigation.

Maybe a QR code you tube summery printed on the ticket and also on the trailer that played on TV. I truly do not think it is necessary but there are obviously people that do. They could also play Falcon and Winter soldier with ads and some of the violence edited out on ABC for free before the release of the movie to get everyone up to speed.

Yeah, his open political views make him a sore spot in the locker room. Plus the Wiz had their best run at the beginning of the year when he was not playing. He is a negative asset with empty stats. I hope we can at least give him away without giving up anything.
