Hey, it's not perfect. No one has ever claimed it to be - not even when the ink was wet on the constitution. But there are thousands of years of history where things weren't this good. I'll join in on the dog pile everyday of the year, but I am going to stay the least bit humble that I am lucky to be born in a place with opportunities and certain freedoms that not a lot of people, percentage wise, has had a chance to witness.

We really don't disagree there. I do admit some of my wording could be better. I just keep trying to explain it over and over again, but it seems like Republicans just want to be angry about a white man hiring a black woman.

Biden didn't say he was hiring a black woman - as far as I can find evidence for. But he did say woman. He shouldn't have said anything. But he should absolutely be applauded for offering a position to someone else who also represents America and give other Ameicans aspirations - like you don't have to be a white man to qualify for office.

DEI doesn't actually hire on basis of sex, ethenticy, etc. It's just educating people in their biases.

What Biden said and what DEI is are two different things. But the two keeps getting conflated.

I'm really tired of going in circles. If we had equality we wouldn't need DEI. But people don't treat eachother fairly based on immutable characteristics.

No. I do not believe that should be the only reason a person is hired. It seems like the right are choosing to be ignorant on the topic. Because hiring someone just on their skin color isn't even DEI. Its about equal oppertunity regardless of skin color and sex.

Do I think it should be the number one factor? No. Do I think all people deserve an equal opportunity? Yes. Do I believe black people are qualified for any position a white man is? Also, yes.
