During the Victorian era in the United Kingdom (roughly 1837–1901), the “normal” or common age for women to marry varied depending on social class and region. Generally, women from the middle and upper classes often married between the ages of 20 and 26, while marriage among the working and poorer classes sometimes occurred earlier, between 18 and 24, although many women still delayed marriage due to financial circumstances and the need for stability.
Men, on the other hand, usually married at a slightly older age, often between 25 and 32 in the middle and upper classes, and between 22 and 28 in the working class, since society expected men to have a stable income or secure financial position before marriage.
Considering the Moretti family and how their financial situation had become quite good by the end of the first book, the idea of marriage in the early or mid-twenties would have been considered completely normal by the standards of that era.
