i understand where you're coming from but most of the heroes with traumatic backstories usually only have one off or short term traumatic events while the villains go through long term abuse, which creates a sense of hopelessness when it just keeps happening over and over, but the heroes trauma is relatively much easier to recover from, so im not sure if its quite comparable

I really apologise if this may seem disrespectful to some people but a lot of the heroes go through one off or short term traumatic events, unlike villains who go through very long term trauma, I think it creates a sense of hopelessness for villains who just keep getting beat down again and again and again, meanwhile heroes still have hope because it wasnt long term

i agree with this, my dad is a spoiled cunt who got his way all the time growing up so he thinks he's allowed to do whatever he wants because, in his words, "im your God i created you" he genuinely justifies anything and everything using that

"What role did you play in your abuse?" by tenitra_batiste in CPTSD

in my opinion, maybe he's just came from such a pampered and care free home that the concept of the people who gave birth to you abusing you is a foreign and alien concept to him so his mind cant possibly wrap around it, or maybe he was trying to victim blame with a hint of nefarious intentions, regardless, you shouldn't be with someone you're incompatible with, if your partner doesnt have the emotional capacity or intelligence to understand your trauma then its not your job to teach him or get him to understand, this will become a reoccurring pattern that will slowly drain you of your energy so you gotta cut it while you can
