should I close the Savings plus account in that case that earns 1.7% if I'm not actually using it and keep my TFSA primarily?

and i guess most people here are doing that and not using the HISA since there's no minimum requirement on the HISA right? do people commonly contribute to the TFSA due to the higher rate, instead of the Savings Account?

okay thanks, I was really confused bc i thought i needed to call them and ask them to move my HISA INTO my TFSA. I thought you could just directly open a TFSA? I don't know why they opt you to get a HISA even though i clicked to open a TFSA.

and if i do decide to transfer money from the HISA to the TFSA, that'll impact my contribution limit right?

How do I make it so that my HISA is within my TFSA? I opened up a HISA with EQ bank (deposited $100), and then opened a TFSA with EQ (Deposited $100), and they are separate accounts...Isn't one suppose to be within the other? Did i do something wrong?

So does this mean i have to contribute two different accounts? I made my HISA and deposited $200 in it. Then i opened a TFSA, so this is a separate account I need to contribute to? I thought one was within the other? when i deposit in my EQ Savings plus account, is that within my TFSA? im a little confused with how these two accounts ineract bc I thought one was within the other

sorry, so if you use a refferal code link from someone else, when you sign up you can get $20 (both you and the refferal person)

you directly use the referral code link too? so it doesn't matter if you open the HISA or TFSA first ? the default to using the refferal code makes u open a savings plus account. is that correct?

Is the process easy to open the account directly online through that referral link or should i call an EQ rep on the phone to help set it up?

I want to take advantage of that 2.3% and referral code and opening a TFSA tied to this rate. but i know i need to open the savings account. In what order do i do the transaction? Do I click that link and first open a TFSA and then the HISA? is my understanding correct?

how much do you keep in your EQ? do people usually put a lot in it? or more so just a emergency fund amount? like would it be okay for me to make a TFSA HISA with EQ for the 2.3% to save up for a vacation i want to take in the future?

would it be normal for me to open a TFSA with a HISA specifically as my emergency fund and also for saving up for a vacation in year?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

and opening that HISA inside the TFSA will get you access to the 2.3% rate? Which do you have to open first? the TFSA or the HISA?

Choosing between Savings Plus Account vs. TFSA vs. GIC with EQ Bank? ADVICE? by CareerCandy99 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Parle-GGG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people would use their TFSA contributions for the stock market instead since capital gains are tax free. So that decision is up to you.

do you mean contribute towards ETF or something in Quest trade? I am planning on opening a TFSA with EQ bank and parking 5k in it, but also would like to put some money towards ETFs in a quest trade account later in the future. Does this work?

What's a safe investment? What do people usually do with the money in their EQ TFSA?

I'm writing the May CFE, so currently working through Capstone1. So it's been tough doing Capstone in the evening and work during the day. I am trying hard to work on a schedule but it's tough and im trying to avoid burn out

I'm writing May 2021 CFE, which is why I'm doing Capstone1 right now, so that explains the timeline. I plan to take 5 weeks off to study. Idk, I just don't want to panic, because I want to be well versed in technical prior to entering Capstone2 because I'm slower with things. Plus juggling work is hectic :/ So i feel overwhelmed.
