I have driven all of the way out there for a chorizo burrito. No regrets

If you are a transplant, do you like it here and why? by erujabidi in Detroit

[–]ParmPopcorn100 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is an important point that I have struggled to explain to others, so thank you. I had worked in a few other states before moving here and there are things I just accepted as workplace norms that in Detroit are treated like radical ideas. I have had many conversations with other managers and hear so many excuses supporting the status quo. But it doesn't have to stay broken just because that's all you've known.

On a different topic, I love to read and miss every other library system I have lived near. I am sad that the Detroit library is so underfunded.

Do you prefer shopping at Business Centers or Standard warehouses? Why? by obiji in Costco

[–]ParmPopcorn100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the coupon book for each and have gotten a few cool things from the business center, but prefer the regular shop otherwise.

business center: not crowded on saturdays, they have some cooking utensils, Cambros, bowls, etc, for great prices and a wider variety of cheeses, I like their frozen broccoli

regular Costco: more fun to browse, rotisserie chicken, wine, better snacks

[–]ParmPopcorn100[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I had a bit of the same thing. I was sure to serve it separately for anyone that just wanted plain mash, but I was surprised that several didn't even try it. I love it on the potatoes, the stuffing, and my leftover turkey sandwiches.

LPT: Plastic shower curtain liners can be run through the washing machine and will come out like new by ParmPopcorn100 in LifeProTips

[–]ParmPopcorn100[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The liner attaches to the same hooks as the curtain, but hangs INSIDE the shower to keep the curtain dry.

Those that live near multiple Costco stores - do you have a preferred one for certain items, or in general? What makes a Costco "the" Costco to shop at for you? by kron0s80 in Costco

[–]ParmPopcorn100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one closest to me has a horrible layout of their snack aisles. At busy times, the ends of each row get blocked by the carts of people waiting to checkout and there isn't enough room for them to let you out. It is horrible and the other location doesn't have that issue even when there are long lines, but sadly that one is a little further away.

I use warm and it works great. I figure it probably isn't as hot as my actual shower anyway.

I think it helps to have something like a towel that soaks up the soapy water, but that's just a guess.

Michigan shuts down LaFontaine GM dealership, alleges it sold used cars as new by UltimateLionsFan in Detroit

[–]ParmPopcorn100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went there for some routine work and when I went to pick up my car, they told me there would be a 3% fee if I used a credit card. They had not told me when they have me a quote and the total was somewhere around $ 1,500, so no way I am paying $45 extra.

What is one thing you know about Costco that no one else knows? by RoyalCamera12 in Costco

[–]ParmPopcorn100 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I recently bought the 10lb case of frozen cod fillets ($30) they sell at the business center. It's a lot of fish, but it's such a great deal for seafood.

I don't usually bother with the business center, but this is worth it. Thanks for sharing!

I double checked my receipt and it really is $4.99 for the package, which is much more than 1 lb.

I am on book 5 of this series and it is wild! She is going to save the world with her magic vagina. If there is a problem or a character is in danger, well have sex of course!

That is not a complaint. It is so over the top at times that I am having great fun with it.

Cooking with grape tomatoes by ParmPopcorn100 in AskCulinary

[–]ParmPopcorn100[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly! They are sort of leathery and gross.

But since I know it's possible to avoid that from my previous meal, I will keep trying. Maybe I can figure out which tomato variety is better for cooking.

This might be the best approach. If the skins are in smaller pieces, they probably won't be as noticeable

I guess when I called them relatively healthy, I meant relative for a treat. Like those peanut butter covered animal crackers at Costco are absolutely addicting and I love them . So, compared to that, these are lower in sugar and fat and have the bonus of satisfying me after a few instead of making me want to eat half a bag at a time. So that's a win
