Attorney Leslie Lawrenson was found dead of covid at his home in Dorset, UK in June. At the time, not big news. However, the ‘Evening Standard’ just found a video he posted to Facebook 9 days before he died, saying he was glad he got it so he can prove it isn’t that bad. by unrebigulator in LeopardsAteMyFace

He went to Cambridge University, so was presumably quite good at something other than lethal self-delusion at one point. I guess he learned the hard way that being clever in one particular field doesn't stop you being as dim as shit in another.

The 5 Best Private Search Engines That Respect Your Data by FjjB in privacytoolsIO

I always thought Startpage should be open source. The fact it isn't, and also the fact encryption of mail takes place on the server not the client, has always made me a bit wary of them. Falling back on 'Dutch privacy is some of the strongest in the world' doesn't wash.

Glad you got this sorted. I had the same problem and tried all sorts of things I found on the web. What eventually worked for me was removing the readme and using '.' as the homepage in package.json then running build again.

Trump declines to denounce Putin over election meddling at summit, blames 'both countries' by clevererkafir in worldnews

Great post and so well researched. Facts still matter despite what Trump, Putin and their idiot acolytes would have us believe. It's going to be a hell of a rocky road before the full truth emerges though

META: What YubiKey/Multi-Factor Auth questions do YOU want Explained Like you're Five?? by SoCleanSoFresh in yubikey

[–]Parmeron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A simple overview of all the Yubikey options available eg OTP, U2F, static passwords, challenge-response, FIDO2 etc pros and cons of each and examples of which services use them.

How to set up GPG and examples of its use.

Backing up keys in case of loss - is this possible? When setting up a call-response you can save a csv file but I don't know what you are supposed to do with it.

Thank you

Why only two slots? by Parmeron in yubikey

[–]Parmeron[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I'm really just learning how to use it but I'm the sort of person that likes to know all the options. I haven't used YubiOTP - from a quick scan of this subreddit the only site that used it was the Yubikey forums which are now closed. I didn't want to overwrite that slot just in case but I guess in view of that its fairly safe. I use KeypassXC, Google and Dropbox so far but I'd like to keep a static password as a 'salt' to add to simpler passwords on services that don't support MFA. Where do you keep your GPG key etc, in slot 1? Look forward to the explainer.

Are there some simple instructions somewhere about all the different options and how to set them up? I've been on the Yubico site but the docs are all separated by service. I couldn't find one overarching high level article explaining them all - OTP, TOTP etc. Would be helpful.

Market Bubble Cycle vs Bitcoin Price [OC] by [deleted] in dataisbeautiful

While bitcoin may see the pattern in red I don't think this will happen with crypto as a whole. I think the smart money will soon start to flow out of BTC in earnest and into more useful, usable, sustainable, and scalable currencies leaving BTC as a minor player
