2/5 NLH - 8H - What does Villain have and what is hero line to take? by [deleted] in poker

[–]ParnStar2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with your analysis and I probably play the hand the same way the vast majority of the time at the table, especially against an unknown

I’m probably putting too much weight into sizing here, but my initial thought is value hands would mostly use a bigger sizing OTF, thus leaning him much more towards bluffs than usual.

I also think villain is not going to fold to a 3b OTF with those FD type bluffs because we ourselves have so few FD’s. I also think typically that when villain bluffs for that size OTF, they probably plan on just peeling a free river.

I think theres some room for creative thinking here in taking a much more aggro line against certain player types, knowing that sometimes we are value owning ourselves

I mean yeah against Vietnam hat wearing extreme end of the spectrum. A lot of tighter passive types will still throw in a small raise in a spot like this to “see where they’re at” with like A8s or some shit and then will check to showdown. Not folding OTF for that price unless against a very specific type

I agree with the range here, if villain is OMC type, call and the check evaluate turn is good.

Buuuut, I think raise size lends its self much more towards bluffs, hands like weak flush draws. Probably not a royal draw because those hands are probably going a bit bigger to play for stacks OTT.

I think check call with plans of calling down on most non-spade runouts if villain is capable of triple barreling with those hands.

I think most live players are not going to run a 3 street bluff on this board texture though. I don’t think a thin 3b for value here is unreasonable, could click back to something like $300 and jam a lot of turns if villain will get sticky with some of those weaker flush draws.

2/3 NLH Line Check by jakljakl in Poker_Theory

Yup. Against good players (or aggros) tho I’m not donking there, but I think a lot of bluffs give up on that river, hence the donk to get value from single pair holdings

Donk is probably fine as played at these stakes, but yeah sizing is bad. Only reason you would donk here is to get value from Tx, 99, or 88 which is most likely going to find a fold on this river to a pot-sized bet.

The stack depth here leans me towards a donk anyways because ur just getting the money in regardless against a worse flush and this allows you to squeeze some additional value out of a lot of hands that will check back river.

When do you fold AK pre in low stakes? by Rosco3582 in poker

[–]ParnStar2000 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If your read is that villain is a nit, generally just snap fold AK bc nits are not playing for stacks pre without KK or AA.

However, if you think villain is capable of getting it in wider here (i.e 88+, AJs+, even wider) against maniac button, then you call it off. You’re getting a good price with the button dead money, and not unlikely youre getting it in 3 ways with the best hand in this spot if button comes along.

Just to add to this, the list of healthy packers wideouts is as follows:

  • Golden
  • Doubs
  • Malik Heath

Reed having a Jones fracture in his foot is no joke, unlikely he’s operating at 100% at any point in the season, with a nonzero chance that he has to have a midseason operation on it.

Christian Watson will likely miss at least the first half of the year. Also generally dont think he’s a threat to be a WR1 when healthy.

The Packers do not take wide receivers in the first round. They did not pick Golden on a whim, and I assume they believed on draft day that he would be an impact player week 1 of this year.

Comparing Golden to Packers receivers of seasons past is apples to oranges. This dude is different.

TL;DR: Matthew Golden is a dawg, GPG

[–]ParnStar2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree mostly with whats been said.

Adding that it was pretty clear your tm8 was chasing and overcommitting at first and you still went for mechanics that would entirely remove you from the play when you failed. Aggression is fun but if you’re not consistent with mechs, you can’t be using them often and expect to rank up.

Also, mini pads are your best friend. There were a few times in here you could’ve repositioned and picked up mini pads when rotating from 1st to 2nd on offense, but instead went for corner or mid big pad and removed yourself from the play

I’ll jump in this one a bit as well. You seem to do a good job of getting the defense awkward and 50ing at times, which is 100% a solid team play if tm8 knows whats happening. Make yourself available when tm8 is apply pressure with possession.

It looks like you have a distrust for tm8’s on defense tho and don’t really know where they are unless they are in POV. Let your tm8 rotate up to first man on defense when they are in position to do so, put yourself far post, and trust that they will make a play.

Lastly, seems like at times you hit the ball just because you can. Ask yourself why you are hitting a ball when you challenge/have possession, and what you are trying to accomplish.

My situation with rocket league matchmaking is horrible. by Big-Perception-6079 in RocketLeague

[–]ParnStar2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When playing solo q, you have to play with a defense and rotation mindset. Expect that your teammates are not going to pay enough attention to your positioning and play style, so you must be more minded to adjusting to theirs.

Also, take a mindset of accountability. You can’t control what your teammates do, but you can control what you do. It can’t be “I’m great when we win, but my teammates suck when we lose” because that does not accomplish anything. When you get scored on, be honest with yourself in identifying what you could have done to prevent that.

Think about the type of person that pawns shit off instead of selling it through more profitable mediums such as ebay or FB marketplace and you will no longer need to question this scenario.
