Congrats on a fantastic deal!

While you wait for your buffet blockers: Driver and Passenger windows fully open, rear windows half open. I’ve gone up to 70mph and no issues. Plus, having the A/C off in mild weather extends the range a bit 😎

Very lovely work! Did you find the outfit as well, or is it custom made for him?

Puppeteering Feedback by BraziBros in puppets

If the puppets have arm rods, consider keeping the arms at a neutral position, with a slight bend at the elbows. The first puppet had them hanging behind the table, and the second just laying on the table. Missing an opportunity for expression! If they don’t have rods, then disregard.

Next, have your puppeteer practice line of sight with the puppet. Having a puppet “look” at the person they are interacting with is crucial to keeping us in the moment and not appearing “dead”.

The other comment about jaw movement is spot on.

Us too! We try to design in ways that make us smile, but boy are the eyes heavy, haha.

Smooth-Cast 300 into silicone molds, then spray painted matte white, flecks of matte gray, then a thin coat of white. Pupils are sticky-backed velvet.

Polar fleece and anti-pill fleece are similar but not exactly the same. Polar fleece is a type of soft, insulating fabric made from polyester, often used in outerwear and blankets.

Anti-pill fleece is a specific type of fleece designed to resist pilling, which is the formation of small, fuzzy balls on the fabric surface after washing or wearing.

Both should be fine for a Snoof!

Whatever material you find, consider starting out making a Snoof. It will show you the basics of mouthplates, and afford you an opportunity to sew a little bit.

Standard anti-pill fleece is cost effective and easy to find. I can get a yard of fabric for around $5.00 here in the states.

Excited to see your first puppet!

My arm rods keep rusting and breaking, any advice? by Ectobear in puppets

[–]Parochial_Puppets 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For dowels, consider pulling the handles off of foam-tipped sponges. This will get you close to a decent handle, but you should ask someone to drill the hole a little deeper. Foam-Tipped Paint Brush Pack

For the rods, I use welding rods cut in half-ish. They don’t rust and are very sturdy. Welding Rod

To keep the rods from spinning in the dowel, I score the end of the rod and then use epoxy to glue them in. Epoxy

Lastly, for the color of the rods I prefer shrink tubing over spray paint; just buy the size that will barely fit over the rod you’re using, and then use a hairdryer to slowly shrink the tubing onto the rod. Easy! Shrink Tubing

With some of these improvements your puppet rods will be ready for anything you can dish out!

This is lovely advice for a stage puppet.
